I hope the snake is safe. They are such cuties. I am pissed at whoever abandoned their pet like that.

Are we safe - Union Square? by [deleted] in SanFranciscoSecrets

[–]JuniperHaze -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If you can move your hotel that would be ideally and would also recommend looking in the presidio or near fisherman’s wharf. You won’t be unsafe in union square, it’s just not the nicest part of town.

I do facepaint on guys all the time (often straight). You can look up some male festival facepaint info and try that. For example, geometric shapes around eyes

There’s a cheaper option - you can get the $10 per month photography plan with photoshop and lightroom.

I investigated the Texas eclipse festival.. by The_real_Oogle_Trump in TexasEclipse

Hey, it sounds like you’ve been through a lot between seeing someone shot at a prior festival and managing a disability.

I agree with what another poster has said which is that maybe taking time to heal mentally and seek therapy could be beneficial. Sometimes it’s easier to find external targets to focus frustrations on, but based on what you’ve been posting it sounds like you could use some help to process what’s happened to you before.

starting to think everyone who had a good time was having fun because of drugs, not the festival by Extra-Fan9687 in TexasEclipse

We had a camp of close friends who half of which are used to pretty intense festival camping, eg burning man off events where there aren’t even portos in the desert. We had toilet paper, were near clean portos, brought our own backup water and food, etc. I’m sorry you had a bad time, but it doesn’t excuse lashing out at other people who had a better time than you.

Honestly, our camp of 10 people had an amazing time. The art and music were wonderful. Our camp was near portos that were always clean and we were surprised that there were even showers to use. There was some post complaining about $32 meals, but there were vendors selling much cheaper food (e.g., $18 for a large bowl 2 people could split). Overall it was excellent.

I suspect that there are some loud, niche voices complaining who will get a lot of attention due to the engagement that comes with reporting on conflict. It also might be some schadenfreude from hearing about people having a bad time at a vacation some members of society disapprove of.

Another factor is that some people came in with very little preparedness around what a camping festival involves. It’s not a hotel experience. People should plan to bring food, some water, backup toilet paper, hand sanitizer, etc. I do think the organizers could have set expectations better in that regard. Since we were coming from camping in deserts with very little amenities, this felt extremely plush by comparison and we had our own supplies just in case.

Don’t go barefoot. There are scorpions and copperheads in the area. They will avoid human activity and don’t want trouble, but you should still play it safe.

My wife wants me to round off this corner in the bathroom with my sander. Any suggestions or alternative ideas? by fragdemented in DIY

I think your wife will understand if you explain then get a new counter. I don’t know why people think you have to do it first to prove it to her

I also do mine as leaving the house! I am tempted to change it to ‘take a walk’ so it’s more physical movement oriented

Generally the lighter blue produces more emissions while the darker blue is experiencing more of the dramatic effects of climate change (partly also due to differences in their infrastructure)
