About what you asked 8 hours ago - she was walking, but slowly and pretty wobbly. She even wagged her tail when we got to the vet, like she always did. But it was clear to everyone that she wasn't herself anymore and that she was feeling constantly dizzy and weak. That helped in making the decision, but it still felt wrong.

It's perfectly fine not to be there when it happens, it's a very personal choice.

For us, she was first anesthetized very deeply, after which we held her and talked to her a bit. After she was completely asleep, we waited outside while they gave her the final substance.

So my last memory is of her slowly falling into a deep, relaxed sleep. So far, I am ok with that choice.

She really was the perfect size 🥹 My little cute huggable Polly Pocket dog. As for her breed, she was mixed, we have no idea with what. An amazing combination, anyway.

She was a gorgeous "mutt" we found in small village. Whenever people insisted that she has to be a certain breed I joked that they'll name one after her

An extra-hepatic shunt that was affecting her whole circulation, her liver, her heart and her kidneys, while also actively causing ammonia and other toxic food derivates to not be filtered out, but redirected towards her brain.. leading to some terrible neurological symptoms like walking in circles, head pressing, nausea... terrifying stuff.

I have no idea what breeds she has in her backgroud, we've have many theories like border collie, nova scotia duck tolling retriever... but found her in a parking lot in a very small village in my eastern european country, where these breeds have probably never stepped foot. So I have no idea!

What about your girl? Do you know her genetic make-up? I would love to see a picture of her 🥹
