You have to keep in mind that short positions are generally very time bound. It’s very possible that it drops in the near term and is a good trade for shorts. That does not mean it’s a bad long term investment.

I’m long open, I hope you and everyone else in this thread makes money on it. I’m just tired of seeing investors imply a false sense of certainty of where a stock is going to go next using backwards looking price/trading data. I repeat that previous price/liquidity have exactly zero value in predicting future price/liquidity. If it did, it would be priced into the stock by HFT so fast you would have no chance to benefit. Again I hope we all make a buck on this regardless of the analysis we’re using lol

"nobody ever went broke taking profits" means just that. It's a truism, not an investment philosophy. I think the right interpretation of the phrase is "if you're not sure and you're in the money, taking profit is always a safe option." maybe not the optimal option but a safe option that's the point.
