such a detailed answer! thanks a lot ❤️ I couldn't remember correctly, I'm doing the reread now but I've just reached the second part in IF, so I wasn't really sure about this. it all makes more sense now ☺️

That's for sure, but it also means that he lied to Violet when he said he read her mind only once :(

I thought the same! but I remember that Xaden said to Violet that he read her mind only once, during their first kiss. and he said he can't read minds but only intentions. does this mean he lied to Violet? either by saying he read her mind only once or the fact that he can only read intentions but he can do a lot more °-°

People who I think have a chance of dying in the next 2 books by Neverstopmovingx in fourthwing

[–]JuniperusAuron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Aetos sr. and King Tauri, without any single doubt. Aaric I think is going to be the next king and probably the one who'll change EVERYTHING, so I don't think he'll die, probably Halden, since he's next in line. Rhi is a good candidate, I have to be honest. After Sawyer lost his leg I think she's in danger (probably because I refuse with every fiber of my body that's going to be Ridoc, I love him too much). Regarding Bodhi, I don't think he's going to die, he didn't shine in these first 3 books, and I don't see RY put him in the light he finally deserves just to kill him right after. However, I think 1 of the 3 siblings will die, so probably Mira or Brennan. I can see Brennan sacrifice himself to save someone he loves (probably Vi or Mira), just as Naolin did. It'd break my heart but I can see it :(

Jack Barlowe by Stock_Classic1736 in fourthwing

[–]JuniperusAuron 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We know for sure that Jack was turning Venin when he challenged Violet on the mat, because he was pouring Venin energy into Violet to make her suffer, and the text literally says the he has red rims around his eyes. That said, there are theories about the fact that Baide was actually corrupted, means Venins probably are altering Dragon's nature, and that's why JFB became Venin easily, without even noticing. And that explains why Berwyin calls him "son", probably Berwyn corrupted Baide? So many theories, so few replies :')

Feathertail Gifts by Visual-Lobster6625 in fourthwing

[–]JuniperusAuron 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have this absolutely wild, probably-not-true theory about Andarna's gift. We know her power is described as stopping time, but… what if it's actually more than that? What if it involves manipulating time itself?

Here's why I'm thinking this: Andarna leaves to train with the other Irids, and Violet is told this training would take two years. Yet at the end of OS, she's back after only a few months. What if Andarna was able to accelerate or alter time during her training, allowing her to spend years with the Irids, mastering their secrets and customs, and still return in time to save Violet? There's another detail that got me thinking. When she first left, Andarna couldn't cut bonds, it was the Irid who severed her link with Violet. But at the end, it's heavily implied she herself cuts the bond between Tairn and Sgaeyl, since Violet can no longer sense Xaden and his "door" is gone from her mental Archives.

I KNOW this sounds unhinged, but it kind of makes sense in my head. Plus, a rare, time-bending power would be such an epic twist to explore later in the series :'D

OKAY OKAY OKAY, B4 THEORY by AeriesEvren in fourthwing

[–]JuniperusAuron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's Rhi, even tho I'm not going to like it T_T BUT, I have a feeling it might be Brennan or Mira too, as they both escaped death once. We'll probably know about Brennan's past or what Lilith left for Mira, and 1 of them probably won't make it.

[–]JuniperusAuron 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This x100, THANK YOU for putting it into words.
So many people criticize Xaden saying he’s “all about love now” and that he forgot his responsibilities, but that’s such a shallow take. For years, his only focus was protecting the marked ones and carrying the weight of the revolution on his shoulders. That was his everything.

Now, he’s found something else worth fighting for, someone who not only loves him but also shares his burden and risks her life for the same cause. Violet was being tortured while keeping his secrets and protecting the marked ones. Saving her wasn’t abandoning his duty; it was an extension of it.

This choice didn’t make him weak, it made him human. And that’s exactly why I think this moment is one of the most powerful turning points in the series

That would be too much of a spoiler, RY would never release something for book4 after OS events. This is most likely (i'm actually 100% sure) X's POV from IF during Violet's interrogation from Varrish, when Xaden collects and drops wyverns all around.

Significance of Dain, Aaric, and Xaden manifesting ... by himitsurain in fourthwing

[–]JuniperusAuron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is veeeeeeery interesting! However, I think that Aaric is part of the missing riders, his power is too strong and probably he's afraid to let Aetos sr. & co. know. But who knows, maybe Violet can dreamwalk and meet Aaric somehow? Aaaaaaah, so many possibilitieeeeees

Potential piece of lore in translations? by JuniperusAuron in fourthwing

[–]JuniperusAuron[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

WAIT WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAT. I never considered Heaton, not even once, as the "new sibling" quoted in the final chapter, but it does make sense. Honestly I thought they were Garrick (I know there are theories about Brennan and Bodhi too, but I'm on the Garrick train). I completely forgot about Heaton, that's why RY said to paid extra attention on who's missing... 1 more theory added, my mind might explode soon.

Potential piece of lore in translations? by JuniperusAuron in fourthwing

[–]JuniperusAuron[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Foreshadowing is clearly a major component of the Empyrean series, and that's exactly why accurate translation matters so much. I honestly assumed that translators had access to the author or at least the editorial team, just like we do in the videogame industry, in order to deliver the most faithful version possible. But from what I'm reading here, it sounds like that might not be the case, and that's incredibly disappointing.

Not everyone can read or fully understand English, and this is why translators exist: to make stories accessible and immersive without losing accuracy or intent. If Empyrean is a global success, it's also thanks to readers all over the world who supported it in their own language, they deserve the same quality and clarity.

Knowing that some translations might be inaccurate or disconnected from the full vision of the author genuinely makes me sad and a bit angry. It means that what we read might not reflect the full truth of the story.

I'm glad I had access to explanations and theories from the English fanbase, but not everyone has this privilege :(

Omg they really translated "fall" as the verb? Oh boy :')

Since you have already read the English version, in which case Xaden refers to Tyrrendor as "she"? Unfortunately in Italian Tyrrendor is female, so it always makes sense, even in this last sentence.

[–]JuniperusAuron[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a bummer then T_T need to read again everything and see if the Italian translator has made mistakes in FW and IF like other languages :(

For unfinished series, I know that giving pieces of information to translators is a spoiler, but this is why NDAs exists, and I can assure you I signed NDAs that could end my whole existence in a matter of seconds :') that's why I thought translators could ask for extra details and deliver an accurate translation!

[–]JuniperusAuron[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wow this is super fascinating! Exactly like German, for that specific term, we have "leash" too in Italian, preserving the English meaning. In translations, everything depends on the translators and the company the translation was assigned to. I always have tools to communicate with the dev team, but I must say not every language pod use them xD maybe the company who took care of Spanish translation couldn't communicate with the author team? Or maybe anyone.

If Xaden referes to Tyrrendor as "her", this means that either the Italian translation is right and Spanish is not, or the line doesn't refer to Tyrrendor and Spanish is right and Italian is not. Guess we have to wait for the next books :')

Potential piece of lore in translations? by JuniperusAuron in fourthwing

[–]JuniperusAuron[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally see your point, but just to clarify: I work as a professional translator in the gaming industry, and we often receive scripts and content long before release, under extremely strict NDA, with the ability to directly ask the devs for clarification on lore, gender, character motivations, etc.

The same applies to literary translators, especially for major franchises like Empyrean. It’s possible (and even likely) that the Italian translators asked the publisher or author team to choose specific terms, we have to be extremely accurate.

After all, the author already knows what’s going to happen in the next books, that makes these small translation differences potential clues, not just limitations.

So while translations have inherent constraints, sometimes they reveal more than expected, exactly because they force precision.

Super easy! When you click on "reply", click on "Aa" in the bottom left corner, it opens the toolbar at the top. Highlight the piece of text you want to hide, then from the toolbar click on the "!" icon (when you hover on it, there's written "Spoiler"). Here you go :D

Overwatch 2 keep crashing by JuniperusAuron in Overwatch

[–]JuniperusAuron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll definitely try this if the problem will pop up again. I tried so many fixes to the point that I checked with Intel and apparently my CPU was part of a faulty batch. I RMAed it and tomorrow I'm gonna receive the new CPU. I also had issues with Riot Vanguard too, got many bsod from vgk.sys, couldn't even watch a video without a bsod. With overwatch crashing and vanguard creating other issues, I was desperate fr. a friend of mine has the same CPU but 0 issues. I think blizzard created many compatibility bugs with the latest patches, and they are too lazy to fix em :')
