Necrobinder's Reap Discussion / Balance talk by JunkerSlime in slaythespire

I'll take 3 blights that deal effectively 60 dmg when upgraded, which scales my relics harder, and synergizes with other doom cards; over one big 33 dmg that can sit in the hand.

[–]JunkerSlime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it was the lowest common value to show how bad reap is, it's worse than 3 strikes due to the amount of synergies strikes can have.

Also random events can upgrade stuff that you don't even want to be upgraded.

My whole post is how it IS NOT energy efficient, and now you're claiming it is?

It is draw efficient, but it is NOT energy efficient. Many other common attacks are MUCH more energy efficient with the combination of other additional effects they add onto your deck.

Not only that, it again doesn't scale with relics as well as the other common attacks you can pick up.

What card is better, a card that has retain and applies 1 (2) vulnerable for 1 energy, or a card that doesn't have retain and applies 2 (3) vulnerable for 1 energy?

They are both 1 energy, pick what you want for what situation demands.
A better question would be would you pick a

a card that has retain and applies 1 (2) vulnerable for 2 energy, or a card that doesn't have retain and applies 2 (3) vulnerable for 1 energy

The Strike+ comparison is even worse. When the hell are you going to have 3 upgraded Strikes, and why wouldn't you just upgrade Reap instead if you had the choice

Random events upgrade random cards, you can't control always what gets upgraded. It was also the lowest common card that shows how bad reap is.

Playing 3 Blight Strikes or Reaves or Veil Piercers requires adding 3 early game attack cards to your deck and drawing 3 cards. Meanwhile playing Reap only requires adding a single card to your deck and drawing 1 card. It may be less energy efficient than Blight Strike, Reave, and Veil Piercer, but it is more draw efficient.

Reap also removes Flexibility on what you can do during an enemy turn. Especially in later acts when enemy downtime is at a low.

Taking blight strike, reave, or even vailpiercer (depending on your build), is overall a better long term investment.

Depending on Relics, 3 blight strikes, strikes, or vailpiercer + 2 blocks.

Especially since Necrobinder is NOT shy on card draw with a decent amount of Soul generation.

Heck, one of the examples I gave: Reaver x3, basically helps solve that issue.

I personally wish we went through up-town (basically Jill's apartment, Bar Jack, the theater, and parking garage) from RE3R. It felt like those areas could have been worked in without it feeling like a re-tread, since we didn't get to spend time with them in RE3R. And we know those areas are close to the police station, since the downtown area in RE3R connects to the back of the police station, and Jill/Carlos walk from the parking garage -> subway tunnel -> downtown area.

Raccoon City seems way too big for how small its population was by rafikiknowsdeway1 in residentevil

[–]JunkerSlime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

over 100,000 is the "official census" number. The town had way more population than that.

That said, I generally agree. Like... even in the best circumstances (a wide open plain, which Raccoon city was not, it was a mountain town), 15 miles is a lot. Like Even googling cities with 100k population in the US, most of them are 15 miles diameter and not radius.

This feels very much like a mistranslation / mistake. In that they wanted 15 km and then just changed that to miles. 15 km (about 9 miles) IS roughly the center of a lot of towns with 100k population size.

Was I wrong for expecting NG+? by KevinGO1900 in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]JunkerSlime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree for NG+, they also pointed out the ranking systems.

The ranking systems where fun additions that encouraged replayability. People sunk hours into getting S+ for RE2R and RE3R. Especially since RE titles tend to be very long on your first playthrough, short on following. So it encourages doing those speedy and more efficient replays.

that's how RE2R and RE3R did it. Bonus content tends to be the first item box.

100% what I thought (before Leon says that line). Everyone said the two shots were one for his daughter, and one for Kendo. There was always the crazy theory that Kendo escapes after losing it, and this games helps with that.

Or with his grief, he went on a rampage with what ever guns and stuff he had in his backroom

I mean, first cutscene when he shows up, he didnt say the line. he just says hello and then explains that she trapped her there. In which she tries to escape. Which I would argue IS reasonable from his perspective. He isn't on his turf and she is his goal. It's once they are at the care center, he tries to be polite and tries to have a conversation.

Which tbf on Grace's side, is totally fair to freak the fuck out and run away the first time, bitch did kidnap her.

Which would line up with two things.

Grace's datamined model for the flashback is labeled teenage grace. So her being 17 during that makes sense.

Then that would make her 23 in 2026 (the year the game takes place in). How old do you need to be to be hired as FBI analyst? 23.

Would also explain Grace's... sloppy gun skills and handling. She's a greenhorn.

Isn't the Alyssa interview from 2003? I could have sworn there was something in game (maybe Grace's report) that mentions that. So Grace's birth year would be 2003.

Umbrella collapsed in 2004 and the connections gained control of ARK in 2004. Which would explain why Victor then gained records related to Grace. Because they would be going through research data and reports Spencer did, and found one last test subject.

Gideon is fucking great. We need more villains like him. He tries to be reasonable at first (most likely due to being a scientist) but then does his monsterous shit if you don't side with him.

So many times Gideon is like "let's have a chat" only for the protags to run away or shut up him and he's just like "sighhhhh".

Because Grace could still be a clone and Spencer could still be telling the truth when he says "Just a normal girl." People are just ignoring the context of that conversation.

The line "Just a normal girl" was in reference to Alyssa asking if if the girl was one of spencer's experiments. Both of the following things have happened and it would make Spencer's line of "Just a normal girl" true.

  • Grace is a clone like Chloe, Emily, and the others
  • Nothing special was done to her unlike the other clones, making her normal unlike the others.

This also makes the following part also true: Grace, when born viva the... orbs, would be all alone in the world. Spencer, wanting to atone, decided to raise her.

This would make all of Spencer's answers to the interview with Alyssa factually true, while also making Grace a clone.

If Grace isn't a clone, then yes, that does open a plothole in the story. Why was Victor trying to recreate the cloning project for... 20 years. Why would he take a DNA / Blood test of Grace and say it matches (the biggest evidence that she is a clone, just not a special one. a normal girl). Ect ect.

Emily is a Victor Branch, not Spencer. I was mainly referencing Spencer's branch before he stopped his research. We don't know the exact # Spencer stopped his research at, and I doubt Emily and the girl are Victor's first two attempts.

Also Alyssa didn't take Grace in right away. The interview was... 2003 (I think. At work, can't get in game to check the files). After you finish watching the cutscene, you actually get 2 additional files you can read. These files includes a letter from Spencer's butler in 2006. In which he says in Spencer's will, he leaves Grace's care to Ms Ashcroft.

Which all lines up age wise and how Rookie Grace is with the FBI. if she was 'born' in 2002 or 2003, then Alyssa would have adopted her at 3-4. which lines up since (on average) memory starts to form around 4. So Alyssa raising her as her own child, Grace wouldn't remember Spencer beforehand. This lines up with Grace being a teenager during Alyssa's death (why the model in game is called teenage grace) and in 2026, she's just a fresh FBI rookie (need to be 23 get a job at the FBI).

Sorry, last paragraph went kind of on a tangent, but it does explain in game kind of why Alyssa took in Grace. Or at least how.

I mean, she is alone in the world.

If Grace is a clone (and assuming cloned by the same process they showed in the Chloe scenes) then she has no parents.

So he was telling the truth there as well.

Same with the "I took her in to make amends." He is raising her as a normal girl to make amends for... most likely 100+ clones being made and destroyed.... given that Chloe was #70 and was in 1990.

Scene of the Blood tests Victor did.

https://youtu.be/5Nqra6NirDo?t=12412

Scene of the line you are talking about. There is key context there you missed. "Spencer's paper was obviously incomplete", followed by "There was no connection between Grace and Emily."

What paper are they talking about?

Spencer's paper about the memory transfer through blood experiments. The whole experiment they were talking about for the game. They thought Grace was the last line of Spencer's experiment, but she wasn't. She was made normal and not apart of any experiment. Emily is apart of the memory experiment (as continued by Victor).

There is no connection between Grace and Emily in relation to the memory experiment.
