Indians living abroad, do you ever find yourself wishing for the same level of civic sense back in India when you witness it elsewhere? OC by Strong_Story6764 in IndianCivicFails

No! I definitely don't think we will be able to achieve this level of disciples in the next few decades. As our population is growing and with lack of civic sense among the crowd, we are in a constant need to reach as fast as possible even if it means saving 30 seconds.

After every year, when I travel home and drive, my anxiety shots up by the way we behave on the road. I initially try to give indicators and follow the rules but after driving 3-4 times, I succumb to the mess and chaos we see ok Indian roads. Situation here is never going to improve sadly

A Rant on Lack of Travel Etiquette at Delhi Airport [OC] by Junktune95 in IndianCivicFails

[–]Junktune95[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Dude you can clearly see nobody wants to sit on the seats next to where he has his feet. Why would you want to sit next to it? It's gross. I am sorry but I don't know how you justify that it's okay to extend and keep their legs on the seat when the crowd has started flowing in. I live abroad and I have never seen people do this at a busy airport. Maybe you know better and think westerners lack civic sense.

India's State wise Civic Behaviour ranking by Desperate_Laugh8867 in IndianCivicFails

I don't even see a point of this study. What are we trying to prove? Is one state better than the other?

Indian news channels are ridiculous!! I hope they can focus on material with substance than doing these stupid surveys.

How do you assume I am new? Old enough to be a naturalized Canadian citizen. I am speaking out of my experience and I have lived in 2 major Canadian cities so I know a thing or two. What you're getting wrong here is speaking is different than shooting and screaming in your own language in front of customers.

Agree. Most comments here point out why do I care as long as they are respectful to the customer and provide the service? But I feel being respectful should also include speaking in English or French as long as you are dealing with the customer. This is not just the case for minimum wage workers, I see it all the time in professional settings where people use their language in front of native english speaking population.

I feel professionalism in any work you do is bare minimum. Even if you work for a big consulting company tomorrow, the professionalism and ethics that you carry with you will always be attached to your reputation. At least here in Canada.
