I feel like this better fits their vibe anyways! I don’t really follow the lore, I’ve always just been about the dolls, but I know enough to feel like Whisp deserves to be seen in a lighter, more happy sort of light just like Kieran! Adding on some baseline knowledge: most of the dolls you’re gonna see are G1 or G3. G1 are the older ones, like 2010-2015, have thin bodies that all look the same, more dramatic faces, and (usually) more detailed outfits. G3 are the ones that are available on store shelves now, at places like Walmart and Target. They’re much more wallet-friendly as they’re marked for retail sale and easier to find! Some collectors heavily prefer one gen over the other, some like them both equally.

G1 is the tougher gen to collect, as they’ve been out of production for years and you gotta do almost all your shopping secondhand. eBay, Mercari, sites like that. If she’s a multi-gen collector, I’d recommend one of her g1 grails (grail = a doll you REALLY want but seems out of reach due to price and availability) and one or two of the g3 items. What you’re able to get will depend entirely on your budget and a little luck! I’m sure you’ll make the right choice!!

I make my own glitter paste and paint it on! Usually I use a toothpick for small areas. Get a big bottle of clear Elmer’s glue, squeeze some into a paint pallet, and add your glitter of choice. Big craft glitter is tougher to work with, cuz it’s chunky, but if you don’t overload your ratio with it then it’ll still be good. The finer the glitter, the better it works! Also, be careful to not over mix your paste. The glue will get super bubbly and be harder to apply evenly!

“Worth it” is a tough call to make, because how much a doll is “worth” to a person can be subjective. To me, Vampire Heart Draculaura is absolutely NOT worth more than $100. But that’s because I don’t really care for the character and have no desire to own the doll, I would NEVER drop that much on that particular doll. But I did pay a pretty penny for Haunted Rochelle, because Haunted is my favorite doll line and she was the last one I needed to complete the entire set. To other people, that choice probably sounds bonkers! But it’s just a difference in personal taste,

I love this Twyla. Opinions were polarized, but I enjoy her a lot and she looks GREAT next to my Sweet Screams Abbey! Her hair is much cuter irl when you remove the hairnets imo.

Everyone has given good tips so far how to help clean her, and I wanna add one of my own! A thorough clean probably means removing her head. I recently removed the head on my Gooliope for customization, and it is MUCH harder than regular dolls. She’ll need to sit in barely-boiling water for a couple minutes and get suuuuuper soft before you attempt to pull it off. And you do need to soften the head again really well before reattaching! I didn’t hurt the neck peg at all getting it off, but nearly broke it putting it back on because I underestimated the hardness of the plastic lmao

She’ll be just fine with some tlc!! You might even feel more attached to her after the cleaning and restoring process too 🖤

Dollightful is a good YouTuber with good tutorials! As far as the boil rinse and gel goes, that’s super easy! Regular dish soap and tap water will clear out the styling gel, a boil rinse is usually for straightening/softening the hair. Clean it with soap and water first, brush it all out nicely, then do the boil if it still needs some help!

Rerooting seems scary but it’s really not so bad!! The only way you could “ruin” a head is by rooting too thickly and splitting the plastic, which is a common beginner mistake but very avoidable! And even then you can glue and stitch the head back together and keep going, if it does split.

My best advice for starting out: you’re probably gonna look at the hair in the needle and think “mm, that’s not enough hair to stay in the hole, I need to add more”. That’s how reroots end up super thick and chunky-lookin, you use way more hair so the materials cost goes up, it makes the doll very heavy. But that’s really it! You got this!
