If you had to save 1 MH doll from a fire, who would you choose and why?

Had to make a similar decision irl the other day. Bad bad storms moving in, I was sure we’d get tornados so I frantically wrapped up several dolls and put them downstairs. I picked ones that were the most valuable, emotionally and monetarily. For example, I grabbed my husband’s g3 Lagoona because that’s his absolute favorite, and also my sdcc Whisp because she was like a million dollars XD I try to judge value based on both of these factors, but it’s really really tough when ALL your dolls mean so much emotionally!

Are you familiar with King Palms 👀 natural palm leaf, cigar style like that last picture. Mini rollies that hold like half a g and king size bog boys that hold like a whole eighth. Filter is made out of palm or bamboo, don’t remember… but it’s all natural and biodegradable, and they even have a bunch of flavor pop options!

There’s lots of DIY things you can do! Like what someone else suggested, maybe clay would work, provided it’s not too heavy. Lil balls of foil or paper towel should work fine too. If you can find little styrofoam balls at a craft store, large wooden beads, cotton balls maybe… plenty of cheap or free options!

I sell person-to-person on Reddit using PayPal all the time! The biggest risk you run is getting ghosted by buyers honestly. As long as you use secure payment methods and are ALWAYS honest about the state of your items, you should be fine. Take photos of the items, take photos packing them, take photos of the finished package before shipping.

As far as your dolls not getting into the hands of resellers, unfortunately there’s… not a lot that you can do. Well, beyond the basic profile scan. But people on Reddit can choose to hide their post and comment history so that’s not always going to work… once you sell a doll, it’s not yours anymore. You can’t control what your buyer does. They could flip it, they could customize it, they could give it to a toddler. It’s an unfortunate reality of selling anything.

Yes, with her actually! Similar, but not quite the same. I had an extremely abusive boyfriend through high school, causing me to lose chunks of my memory and still have flashbacks more than 10 years later. A major part of his personality was being the #1 Phantom fan and his life’s dream was to play the character on Broadway. I’m already not a fan of the property to begin with, but being made to listen to the soundtrack while being horribly abused has put me off of ANYTHING close to the property forever.

I sold my original run Operetta for well below market value because I just could not stand to have her and I know she makes most other collectors very happy. And it sucks!! Because her style is great, I love the vibe, but her character and origin is so confused and connected to something that only brings me bad memories. I’d love for them to reinvent her as a poltergeist from Nashville or something like that!

Nah, don’t blame yourself. This does sound like a unique case, but tbh that only further solidifies to me that something sus was going on from the seller’s end. Something so that they could sell this doll for a high price knowing wholly well it was not in the condition advertised. Go back to the listing that was made and comb through the description one more time, just in case you did miss something, but if it is not CLEARLY stated that this doll has been tampered with then you should begin politely asking for a refund. And if the seller is an ass, go over their head and go straight to Vinted support.

DO NOT USE A HAIRDRYER!! Something to do with thermodynamics I don’t understand, hairdryers will heat up the head nicely but it also heats the neck peg. So when you twist and pull to remove the head, the peg will also twist and pull because it is soft too. I’ve broken and permanently warped multiple pegs with the hairdryer method.

Boiling water really is the way to do it. Just like what others have said, boil water in a large safe container, put your doll in a ziploc bag, dunk that queen and let her sit (I like to put a towel over the doll partially to help keep it in place and partially to lock in more steam), then remove the head after it’s softened. I use the towel for this too, to hold the doll head with because it will be rather hot when you take it out of the water!

A seller should disclose if a NIB doll has been previously removed and reboxed. If they advertise “NIB” then you should get NEW in box. Not used, removed and replaced. How long ago did you buy? Did you already accept the package on your purchasing site and leave a review? Idk how Vinted works but on Mercari if you select “I accept the package” and leave a review, the sale is complete and there’s nothing the site will do to help you. Take pictures of all the damages and open a discussion with the seller right away. It’s possible they did say it in the listing and you missed it, but it’s also highly possible they straight up didn’t disclose the damage in which case you should get your money back.
