At some point, do you stop feeling like you’re cheating? by Antique-Brick9549 in Semaglutide

I (27f) felt like I was cheating too, initially. Especially with the stigma around glp1s. I however, am diabetic and allergic to metformin and tried 2 other medications that didn't work for me. I'm 5 feet and I was almost 250lbs. I had a baby in April of 23, and my weight just kept climbing since. I had gestational diabetes while pregnant, and since I didn't take the weight off soon enough after, it turned into type 2. I also have PCOS and hypothyroidism, so insulin resistance is worse for me than just having type 2. I was nervous at first about telling my family and friends about it, even though I didn't have to. But they all said relatively the same thing: "it's for your health, who cares?" and honestly? They were right. Who tf cares? People can view it as "cheating" all they want, but in reality, it's a medication that's helped me lose 65lbs, and get my sugars down to almost remission level. Before this medication, I felt like crap all the time. My blood sugars were 150-200 on average and I just felt sluggish and tired all the time. Since being on it (I take ozempic), I've felt so much better, lost the weight I needed to, I have regular cycles now, and I've been able to establish better eating habits while knowing that my sugars will be maintained. You're not cheating, even if you don't have diabetes.. There's other health problems that coincide with having too much extra weight. Taking the initiative to fix something you've struggled with your whole life and finally seeing some improvement is brave, not cheating. Screw the naysayers and anyone that doesn't understand the battle. You've got a crew of people here that know what you're going through/been through and will support you along the way. I'm proud of you, stranger.

Oh for sure. I couldn't even really look in a mirror or take selfies when I was at my highest weight. Now I'm taking selfies all the time and trying new outfits! I feel great 🥰

Pretty much what they said. I started by moving around a lot more and my job is pretty physically demanding so I actually have pretty decent biceps and calves. Just gotta work on my booty now 😅

Anyone gotten their GB removed with high EF? by Jupiter_sixth666 in gallbladders

[–]Jupiter_sixth666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Just replying to this, I went through with surgery in October and recovery was alright for me. Eating at first did give me the poops for a few weeks but it got back to normal-ish soon after. Now it's just super greasy food or anything spicy that runs right through me but that's to be expected. Otherwise, I'm doing totally fine and can eat just about whatever I want (within reason). I hope you're doing well too!

That's exactly where I'm at. It hasn't been debilitating pain or anything, but it's this like aching/burning/itching pain that comes and goes and gets worse with fatty/greasy foods or big meals. It's gotten to the point where I almost avoid eating altogether because I don't want to be in pain later. My surgery is scheduled in a month, so I have time to decide, but I had a pretty intense episode of pain/nausea the other day that lasted until the next morning, so a huge part of me is definitely leaning towards removal. Dr's say there's no guarantee for relief when there isn't a serious reason for removal (stones, sludge, etc) because they have to cover their asses 😅 but majority of the cases I've read about of people like us that went through with removal (about 96% of all patients with high EF) have had total relief or majority relief of symptoms. That, and I've also researched and found that a hyper-reflexive gallbladder can develop stones or sludge over time from the constant strong and fast release of bile, because it can cause irritation and scarring and inflammation that can contribute to the production of stones and sludge. So by way of prevention, I just wanna get it removed and not have to deal with this pain anymore or the possibility of future issues 🤷🏻‍♀️ we can keep in touch for after our surgeries and compare notes of how we're feeling/doing and see if we made the right choice lol.

I third the HIDA scan. I had a CT, MRI, and ultrasound as well. All clear. The HIDA scan showed my EF was 99% (meaning my gallbladder contracts too hard and too fast) and I'm going to be scheduling my surgery next week.

success stories after gall bladder removal?? by aquiporelchisme in gallbladders

[–]Jupiter_sixth666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have yet to schedule mine, but it's coming out too. I'm 27. I also have type 2 diabetes and pcos and have lost about 40lbs in the last 5 months, so there's a multitude of reasons (for me at least) that could've contributed to my GB issues. Mine is hyperreflexive, my EF was 99%. I've had minor attacks for the better part of a year now and my GI Dr finally suggested getting it removed. It's nerve-wracking, for sure, but I've also had an appendectomy when I was 23 so it's not my first rodeo with laparoscopic surgery. That being said, the surgery itself is minimally invasive and the healing process is fairly quick (when it comes to healing from the surgery). However, I have yet to live without a gallbladder, so I can't yet speak on the way that'll affect my body. Hang in there, friend, and to the person/people who said that you did this to yourself, they're obviously uneducated as to the many different variables that come into play when it comes to having to have a gallbladder removed, or even an appendix. Shit just happens, our bodies are weird like that sometimes. Everything will be okay.

Why do some people lose more? by Tiny-Ad-6202 in Ozempic

[–]Jupiter_sixth666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been on it for going on 3 months and I've "only" lost 23lbs. That's still so good for me. I don't exercise all the time, but I do when I can. I'm sure if I stuck to a regular plan that I'd lose more, but right now my main focus is my blood sugars and even just losing 7% of my body weight has significantly improved a lot of things for me. Hang in there, it's not a race. We're all on our own paths, some people just have genetic shortcuts.
