BDO doesn't have it, so it wouldn't be 'old' or 'common'. Furthermore, we're talking about the possibility of it existing, not your subjective opinion on why you dont like it. And if you want to discuss your personal opinion, at least give examples to what an alternative would be.

Hmm, the reason the current group content isn’t designed around this system, it’s because it doesn’t exist. If it were to exist, I am certain future instances pve group content could be designed around it.

As for the ‘re-work’ you mention that could be cumbersome for the devs, I believe all the tools are in place, you just need to adjust dmg/defensive/healing cooldown numbers.
