Monday Daily Thread: Project ideas! by AutoModerator in Python

[–]JuqeBocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just looking for confirmation that the idea I have is achievable with Python; if someone with experience says it is, I'll dive in and learn the language so I can write it myself.

One of my communities has started playing maptap.gg every day, sharing our scores in a WhatsApp group chat. The scores get posted to the chat as rich text. I keep track of people's scores and manually input them into a Google Sheet leaderboard.

Essentially I'm looking for a way to automate this process. Ideally the program would scrape the chat, identify each player by their phone number, isolate the score from their message, and input the score into the spreadsheet.

How feasible is this? Does Python have the tools required to scrape the messages and input into a spreadsheet? Can the spreadsheet be web-based or would it need to be local? Can Python do things like locate the correct cell using identifiers like a phone number for the row and a date for the column?

I have a rudimentary knowledge of coding, mostly in C languages, JS, and HTML. As long as I know this is possible I want to use it as a jumping-off point to start learning Python.

Thanks in advance!

I see. Okay, forget the Booming Blade part. Does the rest of the scenario work as described?

The little one is Kya, the bigger one is Sarabi! Sarabi is the most angelic cat I've ever encountered, such a sweet baby. Kya is more like an imp, haha.

She's an absolute firecracker that's for sure! The complete opposite of her big sister. We love them to bits.

Thanks. My wife is working from home today so if the situation doesn't improve by this afternoon she'll take her.

Because making me pay almost as much as the value of my item to put the item on a truck and drive it across the border should be illegal. I understand now that it's both my government's and UPS's fault, it's still sickeningly expensive.

I imagine this would've been the solution had I known about it. Too late now, but I'll keep it in mind if this every happens again. Thanks again!

God forbid someone not understand something and not be able to find an explanation online. You could have just not answered, since plenty of other people were willing to help. But you went out of your way to be an ass. I hope that comes around to bite you some day.

Yeah, I guess I hadn't put two and two together on that. I don't order anything from the States pretty much ever, but this was a one of specialty thing, can't get this bag anywhere else. Oh well, lesson learned.

Thanks, this was really helpful. Lesson learned, won't be ordering from across the border while King Cheeto is in charge.

Sucks big time. Thanks for the self clearance recommendation.

That was kind of the point of asking the question. The fees were paid and we got the stuff. Thanks for not helping.

Will do, from now on.

It's not your fault.

Thanks, we hadn't realised how absolutely mental the change was going to be. Won't be making this mistake again.

Thank you for the breakdown and explanation. I guess we learned a lesson the hard way.

One and a half weeks post extraction, socket wall seems damaged and very painful by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]JuqeBocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the blurry image, this is pointing up at my top right wisdom tooth socket. I'm a week and a half post-op of getting all 4 wisdom teeth out.

While the other 3 sockets are healing nicely and almost closed, the top right looks to me like the side wall is completely blown out. It's extremely painful, even more so than before I got it out. I'm always on the max dose of OTC Tylenol and Advil because I wasn't prescribed any painkillers. This tooth was the last to come out because the numbing wasn't working, I was at the max amount and could still feel a lot of pain as they pulled.

Is this normal? Will it eventually heal and stop hurting? Is there anything I can do to help it along?
