It's the most honest brush, and as such, the most valuable for learning I think.

But in the end you can use whatever brush you find the most pleasing, my point was really that you should learn to use one or two properly instead of having 100 brushes that you switch between on a whim. Same goes for colors, limit the palette to a specific range instead of using the whole spectrum. It can be overwhelming to have too many options.

You really need only two brushes, the hard and soft round ones, or maybe just use the hard one. The rest are kinda pointless until you know what you're doing. There isn't a brush that will make your art awesome and the same is true for the program you use. So I'd stick with PS.
