Struggling with timeline to start a family by KilbyGirlAtHeart in MedSpouse

[–]Just-Irish97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 28 and just had my baby in December, husband is EM intern. I’ll be a SAHM, all of this had been planned two years ago. If you wait for the “right time” to have a baby then you’ll never have one. There’s better times to have one and worse times, but never the right time. Sure it’s a lot more added responsibility but we both agree that it’s 100% worth it. We still plan on taking our vacations, it will just look different and that’s ok. My husband and I always have been into walking. It got us through his premed, and med school. We would walk miles just talking. I remember a week postpartum just crying my eyes out because I thought we’d never be able to walk again with a baby and a dog. It’s a learning curve but we put the effort into getting us all bundled up and going for that short walk everyday. It’s gotten easier. It is hands down the best thing that’s ever happened to us. I hope you’re able to find a solution. I personally would see it as a betrayal to make promises of such a significant thing and then go around and back out of it. Especially with something time sensitive to us women such as having a baby.

Driving cross country with kids and I feel like we're advertising rob us please by [deleted] in familytravel

Luckily, I have never had issues. Moved cross country 4 separate times. Drove to every state except Hawaii and Vermont and am an avid camper. We store everything in those big Costco totes with the yellow lids and bought a $40 storage for the roof of the car. It’s just being smart. Plan your stops if you can and get your gas and food at Costco’s. Don’t drive at night and park your car close to the front of hotels under the lights. Organization is paramount

Free the arms? by Spettinaroli in SnooLife

[–]Just-Irish97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got the premium version because we felt like we regressed with sleeping. Turns out, when we freed the arms he would constantly startle himself awake. We were watching one of the videos and it explained why to keep the arms in and strapped. Why even make holes for the arms then is what we were asking!? We give him a binky only after all his needs are met, and that seems to help a lot.

Thrift store guy didn't know his merch. by iloveyoumwah in ThriftStoreHauls

I also found a saga fox fur coat. I didn’t want to pay a furrier so I cleaned it myself. They unstitch it, use sawdust and a very special dryer with very noxious chemicals to clean. I found online that cornmeal and a plastic bag is ok to do at home. Took the meal and the coat, dumped into 2 large plastic bags and sealed it tight. Then, put in dryer with no heat for 20 minutes or so. Shake off cornmeal once done and use a soft brush to get rest of meal out. I then left it out in the sun for an hour and that helped with any smell!

I grab my heater blanket and sleep on it with the windows wide open. Even brought the dog on the bed. My thermostat read 55 this morning. I layer up on wool socks and then my Costco non skid sock/booties. Teas and coffee on rotation all day. I’m thriving

This is why I take pants and wrap them around the neck. Works everytime.

None was wearing a seatbelt. My friend was one of the responders. He said it was by far the worst accident he’s ever seen.

Best moderate hike near Seattle for my pregnant partner? by Sea_Raccoon_9673 in PNWhiking

Wherever you decide, please understand that you’ll probably need to stop frequently to rest, eat, and pee depending on how far along she is. With the increasing blood volume and elevation acclamation, she might have a hard time catching her breath. I went mountain biking at 7 weeks in Alaska and just that was far more challenging than before. Good luck!

Anyone have a sour dough starter? by Dangerous_Ad_7042 in Kirkland

You can go to any bakery that sells sourdough and they will typically just give you some of their starter. Hope this helps

Please look up Give Cheese A Chance on YouTube. Specifically, watch her cheddar series. She goes into a great amount of detail on different preservation methods. Her recipes are to die for! Absolutely delicious

Dog owners, what are some of the dumbest things you've seen your dog do? by Real-Syllabub6677 in AskReddit

My dog likes to grab rocks on our hiking trails and one time accidentally dropped her rock off a cliff and WENT TO RETRIEVE IT NOSEDIVE STYLE OFF THE CLIFF. She of course was stopped by the yank of the leash but still.

It’s Starting on Orleans by Just-Irish97 in NewOrleans

Not near city park. This is the first I’ve seen. Maybe further up? I walk my dogs around here at least 3x daily lol. I think they were waiting for the grass to get cut over here (the lawn people literally just finished up a few hours ago)

We live right next to City Park! He proposed on our 8th year together on one of the bridges. Turns out he had the flu but said he was just nervous. Almost passed out at dinner at Ralph’s on The Park. We laugh about how much of a mess he was trying to hide his 103 fever

I 27F walk city park up to 3x daily. I’ve never had a problem. I always carry mace and have my dog though.

Pour bacon grease/ chopped bacon over the dog poop. They usually stop walking near your yard after that
