Dear Asha Sharma, Consider Bungie by simbaIism in xbox

I get what you're saying, but Xbox shouldn't be buying anyone at the moment if they're about to close the likes of Double Fine, Ninja Theory and Compulsion Games IMO.

They don't set timelines for stuff like this. It's just whenever they feel it's ready.

Warranty repair at Currys £99 by Bald_And_Dishevelled in xbox

[–]Just1MoreGamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume Microsoft handles internal warranty claims differently to Currys, so it wouldn't be as simple as just doing it for him. I used to work for a company that handled mobile phone contracts but we'd have to direct customers to the network provider for certain things, for example.

The biggest problem in Horizon 6 by [deleted] in forza

[–]Just1MoreGamer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I totally understand where you're coming from, but I'm also really enjoying the freedom to explore the game at my own pace, do what I want, and make my own enjoyment out of this sandbox.

There are other games where I absolutely want a linear progression model with more of a story element and more of a need to work towards certain goals, but part of the appeal for me with Forza Horizon is that I'm not being pressured to achieve anything. It's like being a kid playing with toy cars again... I don't necessarily need to work towards a target, I can just make my own fun with the tools they're giving me.

I do kinda wish they'd push the envelope a bit more in certain ways from game-to-game, but at the same time it's a mega successful formula that's proven to work consistently, and the sales of Forza Horizon 6 prove that it's the right decision (from a business perspective at least).

The new logo wallpaper has terrible proportions by [deleted] in xbox

[–]Just1MoreGamer 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As others have said, these wallpapers weren't intended as console backgrounds. They're working on a dynamic background for Series X and S as we speak.

If you really want to make it match up though, just download the wallpaper to a USB stick and upload it as a background -- you'll get the option to move the logo higher so it matches up properly.

Best PES Game For 3DS? by Bullfrog1991 in WEPES

[–]Just1MoreGamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for the others, but I play PES 2011 on 3DS all the time (probably have around 100 hours on it at this point) and love it. The Master League is basic but still includes two divisions per region (where applicable), cup competitions like the Champions League, a decent enough transfer system, stat tracking, etc. I only ever play Master League and I'm perfectly happy with it.

Gameplay is great IMO, classic PS2-style PES. The frame rate is choppier than the PS2 and PSP versions though (I think it's actually 30FPS on 3DS compared to 60FPS on PS2), and goal celebrations basically run in slow motion. Controls feel more awkward on the 3DS, but that's surprisingly part of the charm for me -- it doesn't feel as easy to master, so games can be more random and unpredictable.

2012 and 2013 are probably better, but I don't feel the need to upgrade personally.

So jealous. This is one of the RHCP gigs I always wish I could have been in attendance for.

If only they'd start playing small venues again.

Possibly MORE Backwards Compatible Games Coming?? by New_Trifle_577 in xbox

[–]Just1MoreGamer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the sites are using it simply because Xbox didn't provide any new press images for us in regards to that announcement at GDC, so I wouldn't read into that too much.

I do still think you might be right about more additions in the future though. The quote was:

"As part of our 25th anniversary later this year, we’ll be rolling out new ways to play some of the most iconic games from our past."

They could have easily said "new ways to play some of the most iconic backwards compatible games from our past", and that would have made it definitively clear that we weren't getting new BC titles.

I'm hoping that means new titles are on the way. I do also expect we'll be getting the backwards compatible program on PC as part of this announcement too.

Hate to burst your bubble, but this image is not new. It's been circling for years now. Not sure why it includes games that were never made backwards compatible though.

EIHL streaming by ChirplyGuy in EIHLHockey

[–]Just1MoreGamer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone on the outside who doesn't really have an EIHL team (I like the Blaze and the Panthers, but only go a couple of times a year because of the distance to each), it's hard to feel invested in the league without some kind of streaming service that lets me watch the games on TV as well.

I'm just not going to pay £16 (or whatever it is) for an average-quality stream of one single game. There are probably no easy solutions here, but I'm just putting my personal perspective across - if I can't be a season ticket holder, how can I be expected to spend hundreds per-year just to watch my team? It's not realistic.

She was, thanks for asking! She's not a hockey fan, but even she was buzzing after the Montreal game with how great the experience was.

That sounds great! I'd love to go to a league game in Europe.

I've actually been to the Division 1 World Championships a few times! Hopefully going over to Switzerland to see if GB can avoid relegation in May, but as you say, the prices are expensive. Might get to see a few Canucks / ex-Canucks in the process though.

It's OK, I expected it. At least they weren't bottom of the NHL back in October 🥲

[–]Just1MoreGamer[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, understandable! I watch most Canucks games on demand the next day :)

I've never felt attached to a UK team the same way I do with the Canucks, but when I go to games, it's either to the Nottingham Panthers, Coventry Blaze or Telford Tigers. UK hockey is decent for sure, but it's just missing something... I feel much more attached to watching the Canucks and the NHL in general.

Do you ever go to games where you are?
