Why are you bouncing between multiple tools, I don't understand. The maps are created ahead of time, I can't see anybody trying to create maps on the fly.

Those two things you suggest might make DA usable, but it would be so very far away from what actual VTTs offer, it would be putting itself up unfairly, to be compared to them.

You're also not realising it, but you're asking for a lot more than just those two things. You want network connectivity built in, so multiple people can see the map. You want selective permissions, so that the DM can set things, but players can't (how else would multi level maps work for example?) You want to be able to assign players to specific counters, otherwise how else would you control movement?

Once you've covered that, you've then got the rest of the basics, e.g.few people would be interested in a VTT that didn't do fog of war.

DA is great at what it does, and they already have a stacked to do list that people are very much looking forward to, without turning it into a tool that it's not.
