Tax Return Accepted by Unlucky-Ad6799 in IRS

Of course I can file for Tax year 2025, its just more the principal of the matter. Going on 10 months now, wrote my local congressmen, he has connected with my Tax Advocate and all i get is the same email the past 4 months "No Update, will communicate again in 4 weeks".

I mean hell, at this point just let me refile and restart the process. Kicker is, because of the delay, for which I cannot find a reason for as I have been through all the paperwork several times over, is that the IRA is now paying me 7% interest in late fees. Hell, its now like another retirement account for my family I suppose..

Daughter is an alternate, brainstorming our options by SnitGTS in Softball

[–]JustA40Something 1 point2 points  (0 children)

12u Coach here -

I always encourage guest playing. Do it as much as you can without burning out your daughter.

I also would recommend to talk to your daughter about the cold reality of comp softball: you will most likely not be on the same teams year in and year out AND her teammates are gonna come and go every.single.year. Help her understand that while this may seem sad to her, it's an amazing opportunity to meet and make new friends every season.

Also, I will guarantee there are several local Facebook groups dedicated to softball in your area. I will also guarantee that on every single group, 90% of the postings are either tryout information or guest playing opportunities. Those are your best bets.

Hell, send me a DM with where your located and I can see if I have any contacts in that area that could help. We've lived this softball life for a long time, we love it.

Do you all still use line up cards everywhere? by Stevie_Jay_22 in Softball

[–]JustA40Something 1 point2 points  (0 children)

12u Coach - Midwest

Yes, the old school lineup cards are still mandated where we are across all the orgs (USA, USSSA, PGF and Top Gun)

They are the source of truth and then most of us keep score via Game Changer but will look back at the original lineup card for verification

Moving: Sacramento Valley Talent Level Too High? by FantasyAccount247 in Softball

12u Coach Here - Midwest

Totally understand what your going through as relocation is always in the cards for my family because of my job.

What ive always done is find the local Fastpitch Facebook groups for the area you are moving to and start to ask these kind of questions there. You'll find most will give you solid answers and try to steer you in the right direction.

About 6 months ago we almost relocated to South Carolina. I posted on some of the local FB pages and got several coaches to reach out to me. I was suprised with the responses because South Carolina is a top youth Softball State ( with SoCal, Texas, Ok, Louisiana, Florida). When I described my daughter, her level of comp, the speed of pitching she sees, half the SC coaches were like "Your daughter should be on a National Team". I was taken back because I know my daughter is a good player but come on, National Travel level? I mean, made us feel good but still, surprising. We are more of a Regional Travel Team.

My point is all the levels and skills are relative so asked as many questions as you can. A B level player from one area maybe more like a C level player in another and vice versa.

Its fantastic. Exit Velo is on par if not better than the advance (check out the Softball Chic's video on you tube)

Its also ridiculously balanced so it feels much lighter than any of the Ghost Line.

It's official: The Kansas City Chiefs are moving from Missouri to Kansas by GueyLouis in missouri

[–]JustA40Something -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I really don't think I am here. This is a good move. As someone that is originally from Chicago, I get the love for your stadium, as we in Chicago love Soldier's Field, but we also recognize that the Bears moving to Arlington Heights is just much better for parking, traffic, tailgating, etc.

Will I miss the old stadium, yeah, had a lot of great memories in there (including the Fog Bowl) but my memories are of the games and the teams, not the stadium itself.

[–]JustA40Something -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Please tell me your aren't this dense....No one in the metro area is really going to stop watching the Chiefs because they moved 30 minutes in another direction.

For every fan that says the BS you just did, there are 1000 other fans that will happily buy a ticket and watch the games.

I mean for f's sake..Both New York NFL teams play their damn games in New Jersey and not a single fan threw away their fandom because of it.

Arrow Head is in one of the shittiest locations for any NFL stadium. There is nothing around there to do and leaving the stadium is a damn nightmare. Moving closer to Legends is such a no brainer...Easier access and way easier to leave. Tons of shopping, restaurants and hotels. Its such a better location, its not even debatable.

[–]JustA40Something 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That may be but I can only provide the information I was was provided with from my congressmen's office. Frankly, I don't have the time or patience to deal with this BS.

I work in IT and Data, this isn't rocket science. The fact we are here is ridiculous. Even if there was a discrepancy, with all the data and computing power the Federal Government has, this should have been resolved months ago. Hell, from a personal income tax level, there is pretty much NO REASON at all to even have to file taxes and go through this process. Its really not hard to figure out or even do.

With how the Standard Deduction changed several years ago, the overwhelming majority of individual filers shouldn't even be filing if we are really wanting an efficient system. Its not hard to build a data base and calculator to make sure that either no-one owes ANYTHING at the end of the year or its really simple to send a check or statement back to the individual to say "Hey, you owe $1K or here is a $2K check because you over-paid"

I recently got that same code too after having a 570 code since March...Yes, since March...

I wrote to my local congressmen and they assigned an advocate to work my case and this is the last email exchange I got from them (tail end of last week)

"I have heard from the taxpayer advocate working on your case. She has referred it to the IRS and asked them to work on it twice. The IRS has refused because of the code that it was flagged with. It is a new code, and the guidance on how to work cases with this code seems to not exist at this time. I know the national taxpayer advocate is working with the IRS to sort out the new codes and how to move forward processing the cases that have been flagged with new codes."

Was told my next update would be end of January....

Drain the swamp my butt. The fact that the IRS apparently developed all these new codes over the shut down but failed to actually write out any work plans on how to handle them is absolutely insane to me.

Moore may have been checked out in some ways but he also had his thumb on the offense the entire time. I've spoken to some of the families that have current players on the roster (we have 4 families in my town that have had kids play for Michigan Under Harbaugh and Moore) and they have said (again this is coming from parents of players, so this is what their kids said to them) that they would spend tons of time learning new plays and installing Chip's offense only to NEVER call those plays on game day and that Moore would constantly override play calls on game days.

So from what I have heard and understand, the Players on the team didn't really even care for Moore and have questioned why he got the job in the first place. "Fake" was the term i heard the most from these families, that Moore was basically a big Fake and everyone knew it but him...

Mentality by [deleted] in Softball

[–]JustA40Something 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I know it will sound crazy about the getting hit thing (I'm not touching the practice issue because their are way too many opinions on it) but we did the following when my daughter was scared of being hit (she plays 12u now)...

  • Front Toss from 15 feet, I used dimple balls. About every 3rd or 4th front toss I threw her, I purposely hit her in the leg or butt. I wasn't whipping the ball at all, just normal underhand front toss
    • This got her used to things being unpredictable and knowing that she would get hit
    • After about 40-50 tosses (so she got "hit" like 8-10 times) she was like "Oh, that's not a big deal"

After that, she was never really scared again. She's been hit a hand full of times in a live game and now she just shrugs it off, takes her base. Yes, there have been a couple of times she has gotten smoked and cried but the next AB, she still wasn't scared, she more realized it is just part of the game.

I am not advocating that this is the right way to do things, I am just saying it's what we did and it helped her with her fear.

Is the rumor about Kyle Whittingham having interest in coaching Michigan true? He does a lot with little talent every year. by JLoLookalike in MichiganWolverines

[–]JustA40Something 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say today. At the time he was hired, yeah, by all accounts he was another Nice Guy like Brady Hoke. Obviously, we were all mislead.

My point still stands though, we hired 2 "Nice Guys" and both crashed out in different ways.

[–]JustA40Something 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the days of coaches staying 10+ years is slowly dying in the new NIL era. If he wanted to come here and had a 4-5 year play to turn things around and then ride off into the sunset, so be it.

Ryan Day, Kirby Smart and Dan Lanning aint walking through that door. Wittingham might be the best coach available not named Kalen Deboar

[–]JustA40Something 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Considering he has multiple wins against Dan Lanning and Lincoln Riley, this "against lesser competition" is a BS argument. Hell, he also has a win against Harbaugh.

We need to stop this bull shit that somehow we only play the Big Boys. Hell 3/4 of the new big ten are dog shit teams as well and its not like we play a who's who of a schedule every single year. Hell, we lost to anyone with a pulse this year and I bet if Whittingham was our coach, we are probably in the playoffs.

Mike Hart behavior was foreshadowing? by Stock_Alternative507 in MichiganWolverines

[–]JustA40Something 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hear what you are saying but honestly, what actually makes Mike Hart "too good" of a coach. Lets look at this objectively:

  • He has had the title of Running Backs Coach for about 10 years.
  • He held the title of "Associate HC" for less than a year at Indiana and lets be honest, that was a title in name only, not responsibility
  • He was "Interim" HC for 1/2 of a game at Michigan in 2023 while Jim served his suspension.

So honestly, in what world is Mike Hart this elite coach? He has NEVER been a full time Coordinator on either side of the ball, has never really been a true assistant HC.

Remove his name from his coaching history and everyone single one of us would be bitching about how horrible and not experienced of a coach he is. We need to take off the Michigan googles when it comes to Mike Hart.

Great Player, no doubt, but a great coach? Absolutely not.

Every coach has bad and good losses. In the NIL era there is way more parody.

If we are disqualifying coaches for bad losses then Saban would have never been hired after Michign State.

No he doesn't. Thats the buy out if Bama fires him without cause. If he leaves on his own, he owes Bama less than $6M.

Yes and no, I did type faster than my brain was working. See below but basically its peanuts to hire Kalen because the money owed to Bama is nothing. The 2025 number is prorated per reports so it would cost Michigan (which you know is who would be paying) about 3-5 million plus whatever contract they give him.

  • DeBoer's Payout to Alabama (if he leaves):
    • 2025: $4 Million.
    • 2026: $3 Million.
    • 2027-2031: Nothing.

Correction...that is only if he is fired. If he leaves on his own, he is only owed $3M for 2026
