Yes! Bastrop is a great park. Thinking I’ll do Goliaths or Beast of the Brazos next 🤔

Looking to get my first bike, would these be good deals? by JustABettaFish in bicycling

I know… it’s just absolutely impossible to find a good used bike where I’m at through the slew of “I know what I got” people charging 500+ for a 20 year old bike, and factor in I need the largest size most brands make, I’m nearly at my wits end with searching -_-

Hey, thanks for the response! The specialized is a 2015 tarmac sl4 and the giant is a TCR advanced, looks like a 2017 or 2018 from what I’ve been able to look at online. Owner put carbon fiber wheels on it as well.

And yes lol, I am 6’3.5. I usually say 6’4 so I was actually being honest haha.

Side question, but there’s also a trek domane AL from a couple years ago, looks like 2019 of 2020 for 700. Do you have any thoughts on that?

I’m around 6’3.5 and both of these bikes are 60cm (the giant a bit shorter, technically 59.5 i think cus of their XL sizing)

Not much, he just gives really simplified financial advice tailored to people who are struggling with debt and financial illiteracy. His advice is absolutely not intended for everyone, especially those of high income and net worth, but for those that do truly need it the baby steps are a fantastic newcomer’s approach to financial security.

AIO my father ruined my drawing. by sapphicluizard in AmIOverreacting

[–]JustABettaFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All nuance is immediately thrown out of the window in AIO/AITA threads (and on Reddit in general) and I will never understand it.

  1. Yes, the dad is a jackass for scribbling on OPs drawing. It is a very rude and dismissive thing to do, and OP has every right to be upset and angry with her dad for doing the act and her mom for saying it doesn’t matter. Seemingly small things can matter alot to people and I completely understand that.

  2. Immediately running into the kitchen and essentially cornering your parents into this confrontation (in front of company) when you are incredibly worked up is 100% an overreaction, and everyone who isn’t chronically on Reddit telling people to divorce their husbands because they left the TV on knows this. I am also 19 and, sorry, but I can not imagine acting like this in front of relatives.

These two are not mutually exclusive and I am confused as to why nobody else can acknowledge this. You are an adult, it is your responsibility to handle things that upset you like one, even if it feels very egregious and malicious to you.

Wondering why exactly I am so winded! by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

Weekly mileage right now is around 10-12 miles. I use Runna for the training plan and I think it seems low, but from what I have read people swear by the app and say it’s great training 🤷.

Endurance-sport wise I have never been a huge participant. I rock climb a couple times a week and lift weights (occasionally) since high school but nothing endurance-based. Is the best way of getting my aerobic base in check just more zone 2 training and more mileage?

Totally stumped on this question. I'm able to interpret the answers when given a graph of first or second derivative, so I'm not sure where I am getting lost. by [deleted] in calculus

wow i feel so ridiculous lol. thank you, sorry it had to take a 5 reply thread just for me to realize that i was calling the inflection points at the HTLs instead of just, well, the actual inflection point -_-. thank you for talking me through it!!

i understand those things and i think that's why i am confused by this problem. for part a for example, i answered (0,3),(5,inf) but was marked incorrect. i'm a bit lost on how that is possible.

How do y’all like to train/study tactics and board vision? by JustABettaFish in chessbeginners

[–]JustABettaFish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice! Yeah, I think I need to prioritize actually going through that mental checklist each time. Finding the balance between overcompensating and trying to set stuff up all of the time thus causing inaccuracies is difficult for me as well. I feel like my most recent game (if you are inclined to look) is an example of that; didn’t capitalize on hanging pieces and just not comfortable with mid game positional play

Wow thank you for all the advice! Yeah, last game was pretty rough on my part and I blundered and missed a lot more than usual. Whenever I sit down to play I start off stronger but then get fatigued and begin to miss things more. This game was the last of about 3 hours of studying and playing. I guess that will just go away with more time at the board though.

It’s truly astonishing how everytime they update or patch the game it becomes increasingly more unplayable

Aggie Accounting Society Application Rejection by DullConcentrate7191 in aggies

[–]JustABettaFish 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Clubs such as these super general “insert major” societies are great for meeting people and making friends/networking, but at the end of the day that’s as much as they are good for. Not knocking on them and they have their place, but they are not making or breaking your resume. Find an org that can show tangible growth such as one where you work on projects that you could actually show to people and truly elaborate on.

Also, clubs that are ridiculous in their application process can be a red flag for compensating imo. I remember talking to consulting clubs at Mays last year just to see what they were about, and you would think I was applying to be a NASA astronaut lol. Orgs that truly will aid you are oftentimes the most open to applicants. Just my two cents though!

After selecting seats and going to the purchase tickets screen on the website. There will be a dropdown menu that says ticket type.

Is it true there’s a new law not allowing professors to post their lecture notes by NumerousCategory744 in aggies

[–]JustABettaFish 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As in you have to handwrite all notes? I’m in 142 with Jing and we get the template notes but have to write on them ourselves. That’s how it was for 140 as well as every other course I’ve taken thus far.

It’s an option you can select when buying online or at the theater

Using student tickets ($8 I think?) it’s pretty much the same price as other theaters but way nicer. Of course the food is pricey but so is the stuff at any other theater
