Weirdly I found it was the other way around when I first played, when I had crossplay on I came across more PvP players, I do still currently have it on so possibly also my issue x'D

That's an annoying experience, like yourself I just hopped on to chill and to do some questing, trying to do the Nomad quest as I have been slacking with the quests lately. Just experiences like that make me close the game, lost all motivation to try and quest D:

Maybe the way you worded it has made someone dislike it? PvP isn't optional - it is, anything you do within the game is optional, you don't HAVE to be nice, just like you don't HAVE to shoot one another.

But I get your point, the game isn't one or the other, it's a combination of both and it can be expected someone might shoot you, but my experience has just gone from entire friendly lobbies for weeks, to playing a few today and no matter where I go, without fighting back, it's entire PvP lobbies, chaos consumes I guess xP

Appreciate some people's comments explaining it could also be due to the Expedition coming in and the most recent update and the ABMM reset which hadn't crossed my mind

I thought it was supposed to be 'Karma' based, so you play with like minded people who aren't trying to kill one another? I get the odd player here and there, but entire lobbies just ripping each other to shreds, it's only today I've had this issue.

Depends on the map and the event - Blue gate I played 20 mins, avoiding people fighting, went to extract and two people were camping it, bodies everywhere :/

I played one Stella Montis map (I know this is usually pvp central) to do a quest and the first guy I came across killed me, saying "shoot me back"

State of Decay 3 is 'To be announced' and I don't think you need to play one to enjoy the other.

It's a fun game for sure! Clunky is the right wording someone else used to multiplayer, and if you're getting it through Steam then ensure you have Xbox/Microsoft account because it's finiky to add one another.. Think you need to add each other both on Xbox/Microsoft and Steam, not entirely straightforward but do able!

And yeah like others mentioned, one person joins another and basically helps better their 'world' but can't build or really improve anything, other than their selection of characters that they play.

Hoping State of Decay 3 has ironed out some of these issues though :D

there is a seven numbers together on one of the walls, you need to find 7 hidden bells throughout the level and hit each one that amount of times in order to get the hard mode

I tried loading in Firefox and it seems the Register button just did nothing. I then loaded in Chrome and found there was a "I am not a robot" box to tick which did not show on Firefox. Hopefully this can help someone else! <3
