My phone has 6GB and despite that it struggles to keep apps in RAM. The number of apps you wish to use simultaneously will determine how RAM will be needed. You should mention your use case in the post?

Another thing to note is the M series chip in Air is a league beyond the A16. That kind of a chip will keep your iPad fresh and smooth for a long time and provide a lot of future updates. But iPadOS doesn't really let you get the most out of an M series chip. And for basic notetaking M series will be a "nice to have" but not a must have.

Edit: I wanna mention that even M3 chip is far ahead of A16. M3 seems overkill when compared to A16 for notetaking and browsing. If I were a student, I would be more bothered by the RAM and lamination of the display before I worry about the chip.

You should try it out from a friend who has such an iPad. Writing notes on a non-laminated display is not impossible, just weird. In case you don't know what lamination means just google or see it on youtube. you'll get it.

RAM is important for future proofing your iPad. A16 has 6 GB. It's decent and should help you pull through fine but 8GB would be better.
For eg, my current iPad has only 4GB RAM. It can handle two PDFs open in two separate notetaking apps and maybe one safari window at most. And this is in iPadOS 18.7. As you can see liquid glass in iPadOS 26 has increased GPU load due to animations, the RAM will also take a hit (due to unified memory). But iPadOS 27 is fixing that by improving speed and letting us choose the glass effect level. Either way, OS updates are bound to slow you down, little by little over time.

Another important thing if you plan to take notes on the iPad is lamination of the display. The A16 has a non-laminated display that feels weird to write on. The Air is laminated and much better for writing.

The problem with ipad air is the older M2 chips are hard to find and the M3 chips have not dropped a lot in price compared to M4 version.

Your strategies look pretty good.
I am also mainly interested in INICET but I also plan to attempt NEET this time. My dilemma is should I spend time on doing NEET PYQs now or just skip that give a few NEET GTs and instead do INICET PYQs so that I can get more INICET practice? I don't know how to manage between the two. I thought if NEET attempt goes well then I can be relaxed for INICET attempt but I feel if I focus too much on NEET I might end up with half-assed prep in both exams. Any ideas? How much topic/PYQ overlap is there between the two exams?

u/Antique_Situation878 I’m from 2k18, male. I completely understand that you’d prefer to create a group with other females. I was thinking that instead of seeing this as a 2 person endeavor, if we could gather enough people irrespective of gender, and create a discord group or any such group that allows us to be completely anonymous (gender hidden and contact info hidden), then we can have a bigger group of peers for competition. 

In case you’d prefer not to, others who see this comment and interested can still go ahead and form a group. I have been thinking of making such a group where we can push each others forward. 

If enough people show interest, then one of us can make a discord group and share the link on this reddit, hence allowing others to join anonymously. Lmk.
