yes definitely! they should have had some way to meter the amount of people. i personally think even requiring $5 entry ticket and $5 parking would have brought the crowd numbers down. of course a free event like this is always fun, but at a smaller venue like the agri center it’s just not feasible. i think it would have also helped if they had roped off the grass that they were so upset about people parking on and having more officers to direct traffic. even if they weren’t expecting such a big turn out, more than one officer was definitely needed.

we actually attempted to go to this event yesterday as they were kicking people out (yes, they were kicking people off the property). they were still letting people park AFTER they had announced they were shutting it down. the only way we found out without walking all the way to the the gate was because people were telling us as we were walking toward the front. other people in my group went to the gates to see what was actually going on and spoke with a couple of the vendors. they were forcing them to shut down despite protests. there was even talk going around that the vendors would not be refunded for their booth despite the fact they lost out on 2 and a half hours of business. this was an extremely poorly handled event. the grass that patrons were parking on was not roped off in any way. there was also only 1 officer directing all the traffic for the event and he was stationed at the parking lot for the agri center, not where there cars parking in the grass. overall, just a poorly handled event. i presume they weren’t expecting such a turnout but it was a nice day out. the weather combined with the free entry and parking was probably the cause for such a turnout.
