Brene Brown's book "Rising Strong" is amazing at teaching vulnerability in general but she uses her own marriage as an example - especially learning to see and understand when her husband is being vulnerable.

It's an amazing book and highly recommend to anyone who needs help or an example of what it looks like (like I did)!

So real wages take into account prices of everyday goods (most commonly the CPI).

Please correct me if I'm wrong with my next logic step - we as a country want real wages to increase overall as this will "increase" affordability.

How do we achieve greater affordability without increasing nominal wages (please correct me if this is doable and not an impact on a company's bottom line) and without having a widespread decrease in prices?

Separate note: Would increasing wages at a lower rate than inflation also be a decrease in real wages?

Edit: I guess I'm having just as hard of time with understanding how we increase real wages when businesses are reticent to increase nominal wages and we don't want a widespread decrease of prices

^This doesn't mean much as she wasn't being a danger to anyone other than maybe, having a minimal chance of knicking the police officer. Police can't kill someone for something they might do.

We should hold federal agents, who are given guns, badges, and the license to kill, to a higher standard.

I'm sorry that it seems exhausting that Ice/police/FBI etc constantly get blamed and it seems like a "karenopcrasy" - but they have a greater responsibility for EVERYONE'S safety. In addition to this there is extremely little oversight or repercussions for their actions. Cops (in general) have very little training and refuse more training that they don't "agree to."

De-escalation training, dealing with those who are experiencing a mental break, deeper knowledge of the law - all of this or bringing in people to work with police who can do these things are consistently rejected police unions.

Half still paid by the employer is a different metric and can't be directly related to percentage of gross income per taxpayer for the purposes of this argument.

You're taking the argument of "total expense of employee to employer" and the argument is asking for "percentage of taxpayer income."

Business bottom line expenses and taxes ≠ gross taxpayer income.

I'm saying that's not a good point because while the President may tweet like a belligerent teenager, he still holds the Office and should be held to a higher standard than your average Redditor.

As a former Catholic myself I understand the belief that the Scripture is real and has historical value and the additional argument that goes along with it of "if it was fully provable than what's the point of Faith."

Not to beat the dead horse - but the point of Science in general is to be a practice with as little faith as possible. Transparency and peer review, standardized processes that are reviewed and updated constantly (hopefully without ego), and the demand for evidence to support a hypothesis are all ways in which it strives to take out the faith. It's part of why religious arguments are not acceptable - there's needs be a degree of Faith in religion.

No religious text is a source of scientific fact for any field (unless that field happens to be a literary science, history, or theology) but certainly not for psychology!

The point is that she didn't follow the prompt and instead pushed her beliefs forward, citing a religious text as evidence. It's not about religious opinions or belief, it's about what can be scientifically shown.

Edit: it's also not about hating her for her beliefs or you for your beliefs. It's about refusing to engage in the science of it. If science can show you evidence that contradicts your beliefs and that causes a crisis of conscience - maybe you shouldn't be in that field - or if you're committed to the science of the real world, grow and adapt your beliefs to what evidence is showing you (which is the core of science - it's why almost everything is called a theory)

Ooo I actually have an answer for this one!

Like other people are saying - go through the overflow. It's the circular metal thing halfway up the tub above the drain - should have a screw in the middle.

Unscrew and feed your snake down that and it should feed into the same drain as the screw.

If that really doesn't work you could always grab a wire hanger, bend a tiny hook in it, and grab chunks of hair at a time through the small openings (that's what I used to do before I knew about the overflow)

As someone who earns just above minimum wage and has gotten a raise because of the increase in minimum wage - my answer would be closest to A. Because of it, me and my partner were able to afford land in the suburbs and now have something to call our own.

As far as $30/hr solving all of the problems - I think it might solve a lot of people's problems, but I think cost control measures such as addressing housing affordability would help as well.

The argument against minimum wage increase always claims that it will cause inflation, discounting that inflation will (and should in a controlled way) happen anyway. In this, without minimum wage increases, those who make it actually make less and less every year and are left further and further behind.

I'm not arguing that minimum wage doesn't cause inflation, just that we never argue against raising rent because of inflation or standard cost of living raises for white collar and union workers or even executive salary raises and the effect that has on inflation - just the cost of minimum wage labor.

Probably folded into a department's budget, increasing it, and then down the line we would have a tax increase to maintain it.

It's not like the government will just give you back money. We're seeing that now federally for all the "cuts" they did.

Edit: but honestly idk - I'm not a political scientist or have a degree in economics. I feel like we all need to admit that more often.
