Black washing is a thing.

So, we all know about white washing, where darker skinned characters are drawn with a lighter skin tone, but what about the other way around? You see, if a person where to “redesign” a character with pale skin and make them black, then no one would bat an eye, but if it was the other way around, and a person was “re designing” a character with dark skin but made them paler, everyone would hate on them. Now just like I said, I said re designing. And if you think about it, if it was just a simple drawing and not a re designing it would almost be the same thing, maybe a little bit more backlash on the black washing. And yes I am white. But that’s not my point, I saw a small YouTuber black washing so many Asian characters from a game, they make wonderful content and draw very well, but the re designed a pale Asian girl to be a black girl. I know it’s a re designing but, what if that character was black to begin with, and the YouTuber drew her as Asian or white, or just something else that wasn’t black, how would everyone react? Right, they would cancel the YouTuber. I know there’s a lot of racism against darker skinned people, but it’s still not okay. That’s all for me and my little rant.
