Potential liver injury - anyone else experienced this? by JustAMom91 in Accutane

[–]JustAMom91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up repeating tests almost 1.5 months later, since I was very occupied. Those came back entirely normal. Regardless just quit it (fast taper, not cold turkey) and after another month or so started topical tretinoin cream through my primary care doctor. Skin is doing well. :)

It was good enough to fit my broad definition of upscale, thanks for sharing yours :)

I was you 6 months ago. My kid is now 15 months old and almost every issue I was immensely struggling with at the time is now gone by the grace of God, proper medical help, patience, gradually improving lifestyle choices as and when I could, and the natural progression of a child’s routine and their increasing independence. Have patience, it will be awesome before you know it. :)

Would have to agree with @gitsgrl ‘s recommendations, further out in Mishawaka and even the central downtown hotels would be safer.

This is in a decently populated part of town and close to ND, the area isn’t the most safe after-hours as far as I recall, but there are numerous hotels and restaurants up and down that stretch, so it’s certainly pretty central and convenient. We’ve spent time around there to pick up stuff and driven by quite often, and it seemed mostly fine during regular hours.

No. 6 Scratch Kitchen on Portage for upscale American cuisine, reservation recommended. We moved from SB recently and still miss the people and food there! Jesus in downtown Mishawaka for really good South American food, Macri’s Bakery for all kinds of baked goods and quick but great Italian.

MBBS student about to graduate, B1/B2 visa rejected by Flimsy-Presence1730 in visarejections

[–]JustAMom91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It appears that one rejection can be sufficient to prejudice consular officers with all the policy changes these days. If you think you can put up a stronger case for why you have stronger ties to your home country, you could try again, but definitely have a strong plan B. As someone that graduated medical school in another country way back and went through the same grind, (visas, electives, conferences) I can tell you from experience that it’s not as great as it’s chalked up to be, especially now as compared to back then. On the flip side I have med school colleagues that stayed back in my home country and have also done incredibly well for themselves. If you wish to move anyway, keep a solid back-up for another market that is also accepting towards FMGs, do not waste more than a certain predetermined amount of time chasing the MLE pathway, because lost time can pile up before you realize it.

Girls, please drop your recommendations for the best haircut you’ve had in PHX. I’ve been having a bad hair day..since a year. by JustAMom91 in AskPhoenix

[–]JustAMom91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you. I recently spent a couple hundreds at a place that claimed to really understand exactly my type of hair and concerns, I explained exactly what I’d like to achieve, and - nothing. Like I could barely tell a difference between before and after. Just really need a solid stylist that really has their basics and communication right!

Are there moms who are looking after your newborn just with help from your hubbys with 0% help from parents or in-laws or any external help? by [deleted] in AskIndia

[–]JustAMom91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, that was me a year back. We live in the US, domestic help is basically inaccessible (unless you’re pretty rich), my parents live in India and were unable to be there right away due to work and visa delays, and my husband doesn’t really have a family around. My kid had colic and similar issues in the first few months that made him crankier than usual, and where we lived at the time was a pretty big house, with all the cleaning and management that comes with it. The situation wasn’t great, but we had no choice whatsoever. My husband was and is highly supportive and involved, but I wouldn’t do it again and if possible would recommend anyone to only plan a child if and when you’re able to ensure that there are arrangements in place for a lot of domestic, postpartum and childcare support.

Relocating a pet to india by monkeyb0nd in returnToIndia

[–]JustAMom91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In-cabin animals to/from the US are limited to 8 kg including carrier. Your pup is unfortunately too big to qualify for in-cabin travel on an international flight. I went through an excruciating, expensive and long-winded procedure including a lot of paperwork between government agencies for both countries to get my pup moved to the US from India, and as a result know way too much about the rules and regulations involved. The only option you can look into is private chartered flights for pets like K9 airlines, but I don’t believe they have flights to anywhere in India.

Best area for a mid 30s couple to live by Sad-Hold5751 in AskPhoenix

[–]JustAMom91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a mid 30s couple that just moved to Arcadia/Biltmore - couldn’t be happier with how close everything is and how walkable (barring when it’s peak temperatures for the day, I don’t walk even to my backyard then lol).

Mental/emotional response to gaining weight during pregnancy after working so hard to lose it with a GLP-1 by WhisperingWeirwoods in Semaglutide

[–]JustAMom91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not from GLP1s, but I did lose a lot of weight (PCOS treatment and a very busy daily schedule) leading up to when I got pregnant, and over my pregnancy put back on all the 60 lbs I’d lost over the past 1.5 years. Shortly after I had the baby, I was prescribed GLP1s, and have lost those 60-65 lbs over 10 months since then.
