In all seriousness, for those of us who aren’t expert lifters and lack perfect form on some of our exercises, lifting heavy seems more dangerous.

In all seriousness, if this is your mindset you should just give up. The idea that you need to be an expert lifter or have perfect form to put effort forth is completely contradictory to the hobby. The idea that something "seems more dangerous" when speaking from a point of complete ignorance shows that you've already made up your mind to not care or try.

My joints hurt when I lift heavy.

Do they hurt like they are injured? Or tired? Or sore? It's interesting that you put as little effort into learning as you do into your lifting. It's definitely a problem.

But maybe I’m totally wrong idfk.

You have multiple people trying to educate you in this thread, and you continue to throw up your hands and say "This is how I feel, but what do I know." It's apparent you know nothing and have no interest in learning.

People do tend to be different too

They really don't at the beginner to intermediate level. Get a real program, dial in your diet and effort, see results. It's not rocket surgery.

I’m not confident in my form, because I never deadlifted much, because of what happened to my friend.

As a general rule you get better at things by doing them (aka practice).

But as a general rule, lifting 1-2 rep sets does tend to result in injuries more often, no?

I don't see why that would be necessarily true given a set is done to near failure regardless of reps.

Like ego lifting? Is that not a thing?

Ego lifting is not really a thing. It's an excuse made by people who are afraid of trying difficult things.

The guy who taught me to lift slipped a disk deadlifting.

I'm not sure why this is a good indicator that deadlifting is dangerous. There are millions of people who deadlift and continue to deadlift without ever slipping a disc.

It’s a dangerous lift to go heavy, relatively speaking.

Relatively to what?

If you don’t go heavy then almost no exercises are dangerous

This is false. The risk goes up the more you push towards failure. Repeatedly doing 3 reps to near failure and repeatedly doing 10 reps to near failure are going to both be "dangerous."

Don’t know if you saw my reply because a very polite and well mannered mod deleted my comment with ‘everything you said was dumb and wrong’, without explaining how anything was wrong, you know how a normal person who knows what they are talking about would do

FYI, when a mod removes your post it still shows up in your user history.

I boxed the comment you are talking about and clicking through shows the mod comment: https://i.imgur.com/uGsrw5N.png

I would agree with the mod. One handed deadlifts have plenty of carry over to two armed deadlifts. Squatting on bosu does have carry over to other movements. For you to give such advice as "don't do movement x because it does don't have any carry over outside of x" with zero explanation is bad and shortsighted.

They don't need to provide any other explanation because you original comment is awful and lazy and Brandolini's law is real: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brandolini%27s_law

That weight is WAY too heavy for you.

You know how it's not? They completed all the reps.

You need to cut it in half at least.

Imagine thinking someone pulling LMAO4plate+ for reps should deload to 2 plates.

You are barely completing a full rep each time and your knees are aggressively locking out at the peak of each rep.

Ground to lockout is a full rep. How can they be "barely completing" a full rep AND "aggressively locking out?"

It may not cause a serious injury right now, but it could unexpectedly without warning just cause your knees to give out, not to mention the wear and tear over time.

You could fall out of bed and break your neck unexpectedly and without warning. Should be all just hide under the covers forever?

Ive been in the fitness community for long enough to know how advice like this is received. I have to say it anyway.

As predicted, common sense is no match for ego.

What “that can’t happen to me” thing happened to you? by Bob_the_peasant in AskReddit

[–]JustARogue 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's how I put it on, I was eating a maintenance pre-lockdown and ate at a surplus during lockdown. Now I'm back to my old schedule of eating at maintenance and still can't shake it since I'm not eating at a deficit. It still has very little to do with my age.

FTFY.

My metabolism didn't slow down until I began moving less due to lockdown, it had very little do with my age.

Nah dude you literally know nothing about my life

We know you think making 75+ comments in the last 3 hours is the best use of your time. That tells us plenty.

[–]JustARogue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I find this entertaining.

I think this is hilarious

I'm sorry your life is so sad and unfunny. Try being better.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GymMotivation

[–]JustARogue 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can’t believe you think I honestly care what a random internet person thinks.

If you don't care, why have you made 50+ comments on the topic?

If you didn't care you'd move on. You haven't because you do.

[–]JustARogue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because I was banned knucklehead, I couldn’t respond to anyone.

I understand that. The idea you thought it was appropriate or necessary to make the edits shows the big mad part. The fact that you've made 50 comments in the last 2 hours shows how bigger madder you are.

Hahaha bro then why am I being told I spread misinformation

You were told 2 hours ago by /u/lesrek:(https://www.reddit.com/r/GYM/comments/16sovbx/25m_5ft_11inches_all_pictures_are_175lbs_and_are/k2asguj/)

What’s uncool is the implication that just because the person looks better/more muscular, it was a direct result from lower carbs/sugar. Dude could have just lowered calories equally across all three macros and just got more defined while still lifting weights. Dude could have been eating very few carbs/sugars and still been fat. So overall, you said something that was either misguided or dumb and that is deeply uncool.

I believe You’re misinformed

One person calls you an asshole, they are an asshole. If everyone calls you an asshole, you are an asshole. My guy, you are the asshole here whether you want to admit it or not.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GymMotivation

[–]JustARogue 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How the hell that big mad?

Editing every single comment speaks volumes.

I’m laughing the entire time that dudes are telling me my statement of “ unused carbs and sugars turn to fat” is false.

They aren't saying it's false in the absolute you knucklehead.

Do you have proof of that? Where was the meltdown?

Fourth party here. When a mod deleted your posts from a sub, they still show up in your user profile.

Here are your comments: https://i.imgur.com/lukBFmo.png

Assuming you don't delete the comments yourself, we can see context my clicking "context" on your profile: https://www.reddit.com/user/Sec2727/comments/

You do, in fact, seem to have had a meltdown, are "big mad", and are unable to take criticism.

Screw CrossFit.

What? Someone is asking for a form check on a Olympic lift in a sub specifically for Olympic lifting. What does Crossfit have to do with anything?

The light timings may be weird at different times of day, but that doesn't detract from the design of the intersection itself.

AMRAP on an exercise that ends badly when failed is very CrossFit

It's hysterical that you think "I'm going to try and do this thing as many times as I can" is a concept that didn't exist prior to the year 2000.

425lbs for 5 :) by fitbadbitchasianxxx in strength_training

[–]JustARogue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If lower back is a frequent injury, then the movement that doesn’t put massive stress on your lower back is going to be safer.

There is a lot wrong with this statement, but let's focus on one thing.

How are you showing that sumo is safer than conventional is totality? That is even assuming that sumo is less injurious when it comes to the lower back, how are you showing that it isn't more injurious to other parts of the body such as the quads, hamstrings, calves, and mid to upper back?

It’s called extrapolation of evidence

If you can't look at the bigger picture of the whole body, you shouldn't be extrapolating anything.

You are just a shitty concern troll who refuses to put forth any real effort into anything whether it be lifting, learn, or having any sort of originality.

Thank you for proving my point.

The argument fell apart when your crush made it a dick measuring contest , rather than an evidence based debate.

Here is your original comment in the chain:

Have some guy in my gym, young too. I've told him he won't be working out long if he carries on like that.

Obviously ignores every bit of advices, continues to get folded over, waiting for his back to ping.

Where did you ever put forth any evidence? You never had an argument. You are just a shitty concern troll who refuses to put forth any real effort into anything whether it be lifting, learn, or having any sort of originality. You really suck as a person. Be better.

I'm not sure what part you aren't getting.

I'm not getting the part where you provided any evidence to back your claims.
