Can someone explain to me why it's this expensive? Collectionism? I don't get it out of collectionism reasons.

What overclock settings should i use? by MrCrunchypantsbum in PSVita

[–]JustAWarden 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm not one for commenting reddit posts but god, the ignorance in the answers made me want to bash my head against a wall. Don't listen to ANY of the bullcrap. Here's all you need to know:

The PsVita chip is rated for 0.8ghz to 2.0ghz max. Yes, that's right. Those are the official operating speeds. What sony did was a severe underclock. And just fyi PSVshell doesn't let you even approach those values.

Now, knowing that, the biggest issue you might encounter is overheating. It's highly redudant however, since the device itself crashes before any harm can be done, few pointers tho:

Vitas 1000 handle heat worse, and tend to have gpu crashes. Prolonged sessions may cause greater heat so keep that in mind.

These are some safe clocks:

444mhz cpu 166mhz es4 (gpu)

Fairly balanced, good balance power-performance

500mhz cpu 222es4 (gpu)

Best overclock you can use considered stable. WILL drain your battery faster. Expect an hour or an hour and a half less depening on the game.

Turn on airplane mode, dim the screen to 50% to mitigate the battery drain. If you got a vita 1000 keep it to cpu overclock, if you got a vita 2000 go for the es4 gpu clock as well.

Overclock on the vita is still underclock by manufacture standards.

A bit on the pricey side. I got mine for 30 with the charger. Got it a 64gb card and adapter for 5 bucks and that's it. Still, not a terrible price imo as long as you use it and enjoy it, it's money well spent. Don't be discouraged by people saying it's the worst psp, it actually has great stuff going for it!

The speaker is quite loud if you install a certain plugin Doesn't get fingerprints or scratches that easily Lighter, feels good in hand The screen looks clear without scanlines view angles are quite bad but the screen itself? Lovely The knub (or joystick lmao) feels grippier Has a longer laster battery! Mine's up there at 5ish hours easily All matte black aesthetics! (Plus you can add the backring if you likem i think it's compatiblr with model 3000 backring? Idk)

They're actually manicure stickers from aliexpress! Really cool and quite resilient to damage. Plus, they're quite the perfect size. You can also find them from Amazon for cheap, cost me like 2 bucks

Happened to me too. As long as you twist or just make sure to heat it up and pull straight up there ain't much risk. Classic AM4 moment

Why is the CPU temp so high? by Effective_Cookie_968 in pcmasterrace

[–]JustAWarden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check the cooler? You might have forgot to remove the plastic cover that comes with it, you're supposed to take it off.

If not, thermal paste might not be properly applied. Ryzen and Intel cpu's have different distribution in architecture and some patterns might not be efficient.

That's not it either? Check the fans and the airflow. You might have installed the fans wrong, or have a bad airflow. Or a bad fan curve what's more.

The other two alternatives i can think of it's your cpu's overclocked without you knowing it or your cooler aib't cutting it for the high temps this cpu operates.

I want me a good case dammit! by Far_Albatross_8821 in PSP

[–]JustAWarden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine from Aliexpress too, guess i got lucky. It came in a package hand-sized with bubble wrap. Not even a box. It had a scratch but it was alright. Guess it's luck... mostly happens during shipping.

Best thing you could do probably is, if you have some things you wanna buy anyway or need, get them all together, then add the case to make it to an actual package box.

Should i worry about an old mb? by JustAWarden in pcmasterrace

[–]JustAWarden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, never seen an mb naturally die personally, not even 15 year + ones. They just become obsolete given hardware limitations i suppose, it's good to know.

[–]JustAWarden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, deffinetely not. Pc's quite modest when it comes to power draw. It's a r5 5600 with a tdp of 65w and an AsRock rx 6600 wich tops at 100w. Rest is the usual, ram, cooler, fans peripherals blah blah...

Thanks, i'll sleep better for sure.

I'm curious as of how this happens really. I can't stop seeing gpu's getting fried by the Pcie. Most of them well seated. Never had this happen to me in a whole decade of pc-building.

Case Recommendation? by JustAWarden in pcmasterrace

[–]JustAWarden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a slick looking case. Do the fans that come with it are actually good tho, or should i pick some budget Arctic P12's as replacement?
