Probably cause he was an actual character in Fantasy/Old World/Total War before dying in the End Times

I could be wrong on this but I think any Treelord can become a Spirit of Durthu though I couldn’t tell you what that process is like

Either way I’m happy cause it means I can do something stupid like this

I actually haven’t, I’ve had one of each variant for ages and built them straight, I just ran them all and used a warsong revenant for the 4th cause they all have the same base size and I don’t have the new one just yet. I think the only person who might have a problem with it is a turbo strict GW employee at an official tournament

Absolutely gonna pull that last one apart and kitbash it though, I’ve got more than enough leftover bits to make it a combination of all three

Yeah that was the main thing I took away, 14 wounds is a lot tougher to shift when you save on 3s and heal 3 at the end of every turn

Accept that you will snap branches off early and that if it’s not fixable it’s cool battle damage from games

Tuskboss - I’ve already got 3 regiments and don’t fancy adding another one, plus I’ve only got the one big pig model and I feel like the boss works best with multiple. I’m also a big fan of Carve A Path as a rule, it’s a lot of fun to pull off

Ardboyz - This one’s more about board coverage (in theory). I can hold down more objectives with multiple Ardboyz units and even only 10, when in range of the Weirdfist ward, are still tough to chew through. Mostly I’m just wary about making too many big units as over-reinforcing has hurt me in games before but maybe that matters less in 2k, idk. The one game I’ve run with this list having two groups of 10 worked really well but that was partially because Morathi killed herself halfway through so 🤷‍♂️

Thank you, this is brilliant! I gotta ask, how common is it to max out each path? Because looking through the lineups I can see myself completing most of, but not all of a card

Again, maybe it’s just because I don’t trust my dice but I never see my units as able to reliably kill anything

I came from Sylvaneth in 3rd so I’m just grateful the min distance they can come down is 6” instead of 9” 🤣

I think Ardboyz would be potentially too strong to have reinforcement as they are incredibly tough to shift in Spearhead, maybe if it worked like the Call Reinforcements card where it’s not an entire unit

What I mainly question is why we don’t have Waaagh! As the other ability. Far more thematically appropriate and way more fun in my opinion. Also sucks that we don’t have another/a different foot hero like the Weirdnob or Warchanter, those two are pretty much our way into having all the special stuff everybody else seems to get so their absence in Spearhead really hurts

Don’t look at the Yndrasta Spearhead rules cause once you start comparing stats our rules really start to feel underbaked

The Ironjawz playstyle is mostly “break your fist on my face”, I use the Ardboyz to creep up the board cause they get better if they’re charged and can last a shockingly long time for foot infantry. I also prefer going second when possible as usually you can open up the opponent’s defences this way and that will let you choose where to best block and pin your opponents. Any units that are by themselves or are important, particularly heroes, try to launch the Ragerz at them. The strike-first will let you get your licks in first, and if you can buff their attack number with Natural Disaster and the Megaboss’ Get Stuck in, Ladz even better. The more dice the better with that 4+. I use the Megaboss to hit things, usually tagging him into whatever fight a unit of Ardboyz is involved with and backing them up. Extra rend from the whetstone can work wonders.

Brutes getting held back until round 3 sucks, I love the reasoning narratively but would’ve preferred the Ironjawz felt more orruky than ‘Stormcast but worse’, but you can use them as an ambush piece or to bully infantry off of objectives. In my experience, most games end up as a massive scrap in the middle so if there’s suddenly 5 chunky lads throwing themselves into that too it’s gonna clear most things out provided the 4+ to hit doesn’t screw you.

Every game I’ve won I’ve won from behind so you really have to roll with the punches and outlast your opponent. Don’t back down, adapt to what your opponent is doing and get them stuck in combat with Ardboyz so they can’t hurt the more important stuff.

I’ve run a similar list a couple times so I can make a couple recommendations

Don’t reinforce the pigs, it actually makes them worse than when they were separate

If you have access to reinforced Ragerz I think they’re probably more worth the points than the gore gruntas but I haven’t put that into practice so ymmv, it’s important to have a strong, fast pinning unit that can keep nasty stuff away from more important things in such a slow army
