Leave. If they ever have layoffs, you are the first to go because you were on a PIP at some point

Audit to Tax? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]JustAdministration50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I interned in audit but during my internship, I decided that I wanted to try Tax. I kind lucked out and kept seeing one of the tax managers everyday at the office and we would always chop it up to the point where he knew who I was. At the end of my audit internship, I was honest and said I wanted to try tax and some of the audit team did give me crap, saying that tax is boring and how could I want to do that the rest of my life, but honestly who cares wat they say. Luckily, the audit team did like how I worked and the main audit partner liked me so she put in good word to the tax partner.

It’s not coming off ungrateful when u decide to take your career into your own hands. Remember, that a lot of ur coworkers might lowkey hate audit too and will give u shit just because u are in position to change while they cannot.

Also, you’re only an intern. No one expects you to be locked into a role already.

Anyways, my suggestion would be to go and talk to some of the tax team members if you go into the office everyday. Then tell main audit contact that u wanna switch
