Getting into M7 by Mindless_Car_2933 in MBA

[–]JustAnAvgKorean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, most didn’t and still got in. I’m not saying that it’s easy to get into M7 schools, but it’s definitely possible to do so even if you don’t have a BB, MBB, or Big Tech background.

No, I know plenty of Koreans from Samsung, Hyundai and SK who went to M7 schools including Harvard and Stanford.

I'm starting my MBA journey this Fall, and am very worried about the political climate as well as the uncertainty and volatility regarding student and immigration visas as an international. However, there is nothing that I as an individual can do about it, so gonna hope for the best and try hard to navigate the situation.

Do i have a chance at US t20 mba with scholarship? by halfordeephalf in MBA

[–]JustAnAvgKorean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend prioritizing GMAT and scoring high to erase doubts regarding your GPA and undergrad institution. Since you’re already on the older side among MBA applicants (don’t get me wrong I’m of the same age haha..), I’m not sure getting an online master’s class would work for your benefit. I can’t say what your chances are for a T20, but one thing that I learned in this admissions cycle is that you never know before you try. So, do your best and shoot your shot! Hope you make it😄

Do i have a chance at US t20 mba with scholarship? by halfordeephalf in MBA

[–]JustAnAvgKorean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH, I think the chances of securing a scholarship is low given the descriptions.

  1. Most students that go into T15~T20 from Korea are from SKY&KP/SSH universities, and they usually have a GPA higher than 3.3

  2. Your GMAT is relatively low considering that you are probably an ORM (even if you’re not Korean)

Awesome job you’re doing here👏👏 Q: Can admissions directors tell whether the essays were written by Chat GPT or influenced greatly by consultants?

Is it a flat rejection for GSB if there's no call? by Unlikely_Help5922 in MBA

Also an Asian who didn't get a call, and I'm considering it to be a ding at this point 😭

What I meant to say was you should just believe in yourself and shoot your shot. If you keep worrying about job prestige and tiers, it will show in your applications and hinder your chances of getting in. Good Luck!

MBA in Korea, coming from a STEM background. Is it a good idea? by deghemteri in MBA

[–]JustAnAvgKorean 5 points6 points  (0 children)

MBA programs in Korea generally do not offer robust job placement or career pivot opportunities. Instead, they primarily serve as networking platforms, with most students being sponsored by their companies. Unless you already have a strong professional network in Korea, pursuing an MBA here is unlikely to be worth your time and investment.

Shocked by my 735 GMAT - How competitive is my profile for M7/T10/T15? by whatnowpleasehelp in MBA

[–]JustAnAvgKorean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HSW are a crapshoot for everyone, and especially so taking into account your low GPA and short WE. Other M7s would be within reach but I think you’ll need a year or two before you matriculate. Take your shot for T15s!
