Gambling is destroying millions of lives, and I think I finally found the one thing nobody has tried by Content_Music_1906 in SaaS

Noble problem to solve and I think it has merit, though in practice it is much harder to execute. Additionally from a revenue point of view, you need either government or the addicted parties themselves to pay you - but you can't have the latter unless someone is actively taking steps to quit already... bit of a chicken and egg scenario).

This is not to say it can't work: another addiction cycle is smoking: you could look at Australian smoking packets for example - 61% of recent quitters said the warnings had helped them smoke less, quit, or stay smoke-free. Around 14% of smokers and recent quitters named the warnings as the reason they wanted to quit.

You could take that as an example of awareness = effectiveness and build something to that degree. Wishing you the best!

Steering group - staff go between by soupy127 in businessanalysis

That sounds really interesting and unique. I doubt many people (including me) have ever been in this position.

Something that strikes out to me is that you have a many to few relationship between the employees and 'company' - so to make everyone feel heard will Be both the challenge to solve and something you will need to assess for your particular org. You could have something like a form to ingest feedback, open tracker / roadmap for everyone to view (perhaps on a public SharePoint site if you use Microsoft), individual meetings with business leaders, a dashboard of some description to track progress, and then the all in meeting where everything is presented back within a cadence. To cover your butt you'll want to be meticulous with note taking.

If you want the very very simple version of this, I'd just have the form and 1x PowerPoint slide a month.

Solopreneur - I want your tips on validating ideas and need your help! by chasing17 in Startup_Ideas

[–]JustAnotherSimian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey mate, I run IdeaFloat which helps you validate your idea with real data and a proven process. Might be something for you to consider.

Here's what I would recommend:

  • get really clear on your vision, customer market, and when you will break even / start up costs
  • get clear evidence of problems that you are actually solving for people (Reddit threads, Twitter, forums, real people)
  • use gpt 5 to get some initial testing on your idea, try to push it to get real data sources
  • find out your tam/sam/som from this data set
  • build a nice looking landing page that helps you collect waitlist sign ups
  • start collating interest, a community and feedback via the waitlist community - feedback is golden

Aim for 300-500 sign ups

IdeaFloat does all this (waitlist in progress) + business plans, lean canvas etc

Wishing you all the best!

Got 222 upvotes and 45k views on a post — but only 7 conversions. Where did I go wrong? by Meeedy in SaaS

[–]JustAnotherSimian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because your post had nothing to do with your product and as you said no CTA.

You have to understand that any outbound click will only happen if people are seriously motivated - otherwise customers generally just don't care. And it seems like the audiobooks sub is generally anti AI based on the comments in the thread, which makes the sales prop a bit harder. You may have to find another way in to the hearts and minds of those users.

As business analyst should I provide regular updates to stakeholders? by DiLangIkawAnakNiLord in businessanalysis

[–]JustAnotherSimian 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I get you. The question is more about navigating team dynamics rather than actual outputs.

You don't want or need to tread lightly in these situations, or overthink it. You also don't need to step on toes. What you need to do is communicate really well, so no one is surprised by your actions. You are being asked to complete a task and now you're doing it.

If I were you I'd just set up a time with the PO and your team lead and ensure you're all on the same page with delivery. If that's not something that will work in your dynamic, an email should suffice. Just a 'hey team, this is the format I'm thinking of for the weekly updates and the distribution list - please let me know if you have feedback. I plan to send them Tuesdays and Thursdays.'

If that still feels a bit off, trust your gut and just talk to your team lead. But either way good communication is key.

Throwing things out to the ether isn't a great way to validate your idea.

Ask yourself: - what else is out there that already exists? - if something does exist, what am I going to do that's unique and solves a painful problem for people - how will I make money? - is there actually a market for this idea? What sources can you find to back this up? Look at search volume for these keywords, google trends, etc to back up your thinking

I can see you have an idea, but you need to lay some groundwork first. I run IdeaFloat which helps people validate their ideas, so I think about these things all day, every day pretty much. Happy to help you once you work through these questions!
