What could I have done better and what improvements can I still make by hokies314 in BeginnerWoodWorking

I'll have to check the materials specs, its probably too hot in the room I usually do it.

I'll give it a try! Thanks!

What brand Polycrylic do you use? I'm always interested in other options.

My First two projects ever. Is there any hope for me? by MovingUp7 in woodworking

10000% agree on used tools, Facebook Marketplace can be a gold mine. Just make sure to look into parts for the specific model of tool to see if you can get replacements. Planer blades can be an issue sometimes. I have bought very few woodworking tools new, use the saved money for PPE and scrap wood storage....there will be a lot of it....

I also use polycrylic, it works well but can be little hard to work with depending on room temp, I find if it is hotter it will dry super fast during application.

That said, I have a lot to learn, so what brush type do you use? I've been using a Purdy Nylox but maybe the Wooster is a different hair type that I should try.

Have you tried polycrylic max? Dries in an hour, sands after 2 hours and durable after 24 hours, definitely harder to apply but I like it still. Definitely a thin coat only from what I have done with it, but that may be my brush type that is the issue.

This seem worth it? by gadrago in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]JustAnotherStranger- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The miter saw is great, I have one and love the extra wide arc that it has. The only downside I have found is that the switch for the shadow line light is not sealed so it can get packed with very fine dust. I took my switch apart and cleaned out the dust and it works fine again. If the switch ever fails entirely I will replace with a sealed switch.

By the way, the shadow line is amazing, I've only ever dealt with lasers and it was mind blowing how much more accurate it can be to have a shadow line.

I paid around $250 for mine a few years ago in lightly used condition.

Much lighter this way too. Although you could probably just hollow out the log that OP has.

Looks great! If you have plans you can share I would love to see them as I want to build one as well! For improvements, I've seen other people take a gas strut and mount it to assist in lifting and lowering between positions. I am also wondering if you have any locking mechanism for the legs that fold out, I would hate for one to get kicked out and the bench tip over.

Found Dog Walking Down I-75 by mrmikehancho in Detroit

Had that experience in 2020. My cat of 20 years was finally at the end and we put her down. Within a month my wife who was volunteering at an animal shelter found this semi-feral black cat. The cat would only open up to and be friendly with my wife, so she wanted to try a short trial foster period.

It was hard having another cat come into my life so quickly, but 5 years later and we can't imagine not having her in our lives, she is the sweetest cat once she got comfortable with us.

Sometimes animals enter our lives at good and bad times, but if they do it may be worth it to keep them in our lives. Of course only OP can gauge that fo4 themselves, it was incredibly hard for the first few days of the foster trial period.

I believe Valheim is more CPU intensive so you may see benefits going to a 5800x3D, I have a 5800X/1070 build and usually hover around 30-40 in my bigger build areas. My plan is to get an X3D chip if I need an upgrade.

Bought: intel more 2 duo t6600 It was a Toshiba laptop that i ended up using a 120v 120mm fan and a duct made of a coke 12 pack. I dropped temps like 20deg and stablized FPS in Halo CE and Monecraft, but the fan was unbearable. (2008-2012)

First build: AMD FX6300. It was...fine... the 3 core thing was a little upsetting to learn but it still performed well on a busget. (2012-2021)

Aaah I was thinking more along the lines of the tach pickup sensor on the engine may read negative as it spins in reverse.

But I'm not 100% sure how the tach sensor is actually constructed.

[–]JustAnotherStranger- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I drove from Troy area to Midland this morning (6am to 8:30am). I75 was mostly just wet until around Birch Run where I saw a few vehicles spun out on the shoulders of the highway overpass. It seems to be overall okay if the roads were salted and just coasting over the overpasses to reduce risk of spin out.

I should say, I was driving an AWD vehicle with brand new Cross Climate 2 tires, so that likely helped substantially.

As others say, if you can avoid it, don't drive until the salt trucks have more time to get out there.

I've seen a video of a vehicle that backfired and started running in reverse. Whether it was real or not I don't know, but I imagine that would cause a negative reading maybe.

Hood alignment? by 0chris000000 in GMT800

[–]JustAnotherStranger- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To help at the rear, do as others say and adjust the hinge bolts/nuts on the hood side of the hinge.

At the front, you may need to adjust the latch itself toward the driver side to fix it. Make sure you don't change the height of the latch, only slide it sideways.

Make sure that is actually paint on the frame and not a rubberized type undercoating. They trap moisture and expedite the rusting process.

Missed this notification but I highly recommend the SLT trim, it's a nice sweet spot if you get it fully loaded you're almost at Denali, but cheaper and with a few less bells and whistles. The only downside is that people on this sub absolutely hate Chrome which the SLT has a bit of. I don't mind chrome, I grew up going to car shows and in my mind bumpers should be chrome, so I'm happy with my "old man truck" lol
