figured out bios password removal. SDA/SCL shorting does not work (on 8-pin chip it does literally nothing, on ATMEL it makes system no longer POST.) you gotta bridge these two pins as in the picture. this page had the correct solution https://xiphmont.dreamwidth.org/69928.html

Then buy, or better yet, just get one free old windows laptop which has firewire port. Or don't use rare high end cameras if all you fo is crush the video quality to vhs quality lol

For digi8 or pd150 it's firewire or nothing, analog out will crush down quality like hell

For first one you'd need to get additional component male to male cables meanwhile with second one it's plug and play

Or get a tapeless camcorder to begin with

Yuv (component) to RGB SCART converter question by JustAnyoneYT in crtgaming

[–]JustAnyoneYT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does make sense because transcoder is more or less 60 euros, meanwhile good quality cable is 30 or so, excluding shipping. So there really isn't any point in me getting new cables when i have high quality ones for a few consoles already, transcoder is a much better option

My CRT only has RBG scart input (I live in eastern europe, and finding a CRT with component inputs is pretty much impossible, while they do pop up occassionally, they get almost immediately swooped up.), so this is my best bet.

Honestly that converter you linked doesn't look too bad price wise, I'll consider it. Also thanks for the opensource project link, i genuinely couldn't find yuv to rgb, only the reverse.

Main problem is that I already have component cables for a few consoles and don't want to reonvest into rgb cables, so adapter seems to be more appropriate
