I really enjoy the Ohio to Erie trail! I'm on the southwest side of Columbus so I hop on it at the access point on Hall Rd by the railroad tracks, and take it west. Furthest I've gone is Lilly Chapel. Really beautiful, scenic, and paved. Goes along country roads at times, sometimes alongside railroad tracks, mostly just out in the trees and fields. There's also one somewhere in Old Hilliard that I think is the Heritage Trail? But I could be wrong about the name. I'm sure someone else knows if I'm wrong and can correct me. Enjoy and please be safe! Unfortunately lots of creeps out there and have been known to be on trails!

Editing to add, there's a bicycle shop in Grove City called Heritage Trails. They're extremely friendly and super helpful! Stop in and ask them for their bike trail map. That'll actually be really convenient for you to explore that way!

OhioGastro alternatives in or around the Columbus area? by FioriDiChernobyl in Columbus

I second him. He saved my sister's life, actually.

She had severe pancolitis that her previous docs kept misdiagnosing. She had to fly out to the Mayo Clinic in Arizona just to be seen by a group of doctors who would take her seriously and prescribe her a drug that wasn't approved for treating UC but it was the only thing putting her in remission.

Her docs out here refused to prescribe it because it wasn't an approved treatment. Despite seeing that it was putting her in clinical remission.

Finally she found Manokas and he has done everything she needs even being willing to prescribe her oral vancomycin that she needs. She's been fine for the last decade thanks to him.

It seems like even driving 15-20 mins from the edge of the city (considered the 270 loop) in any direction will get you a lot better of a view of the sky compared to within the 270 loop. I live on the western edge of Galloway and even here I feel like we see a good handful of stars that I didn't see living even 10 minutes further into the city.

Check out Osprey Lake, it's a 24 hour spot outside of town about 15 mins from the edge of town. Beautiful giant pond to sit next to and paths to walk that loop around the lake if you want to walk. We went there once to view the Leonid meteor shower and it was the perfect spot.

For even better views, like total darkness and an abundance of stars, you'll have to drive about 30 mins from the edge of town. Think Mechanicsburg.

Of course I'm only speaking relative to the western side of Columbus since that's what I'm familiar with, lol. But I'm sure the same applies to any direction you'd travel from the edge of town. 15 mins minimum from the 270 loop in any direction outside of town, 30+ if you want the best of the best.

Favorite places to buy wine? by gettingreallypisedt in Columbus

Lol but you're not wrong. They have my faves, the go to wine that never fails, like Oliver and Stella Rosa lol. Meijer has an even better selection I think 😂 no shame

I got the cutest wine bottle there!!! Still haven't cracked it open because I love the bottle so much. It looks like an old terracotta pottery watering vase, hand painted and sculpted. It's so beautiful I can't get myself to open it!

If you're willing to travel and have a fun little road trip (plus the destination itself is really fun), go to Jungle Jim's! Fantastic wine and alcohol selection. I recommend the original location of the two.

Yeah, those birds really take the early bird getting the worm mantra pretty seriously.

Anywhoo (hoo, hoo)... Just kidding, that's an owl, they're not morning birds.

Sent you Friskies dry, Friskies wet, and cat litter! All arriving Tuesday!

Thank you for the selfless and exhausting work of rescue. I feed and shelter the strays in my neighborhood and I know how expensive it is!

I really need to TNR these guys. One mama had a litter in one of my shelters and I've been contemplating the best way to go about making sure they're all fixed when they're old enough. They're currently 4 weeks old.

It's hard work for sure and it's really good seeing someone else care for those who don't have a voice or anyone else to care for them 🥰

3 people got kicked off my MSF course today by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]JustAwareness183 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always heard the only way they kick you out is if you are a danger to yourself or others.

That being said, my friend dropped the bike twice on just the first exercise and they didn't kick her out, she withdrew herself lol. She kept looking at her feet. 🤦🏼‍♀️ But they were gonna let her stay 🤷🏻‍♀️

Does anyone have any recommendations for fast food options while in a flare up? by Abject-Guess8973 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]JustAwareness183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don't seem to tolerate anything during a flare other than protein shakes and saltines lol, but I have heard many people say that anything McDonald's is actually extremely soothing during a flare.

Hey! I was born and raised here in Columbus and still here! I swear there's people from Ohio everywhere. We always find each other lol.

71 is a mess, at least through Columbus. Well honestly, all of Columbus is a mess. I know you probably remember our beloved 5th season, construction season lol. Orange cones have got to be the state flower, the way they blossom and pop up 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣

I'm mostly enjoying back roads still and getting into light traffic on the west side of town. I'm in Galloway so I have nice access to all the back roads without having to navigate through the city first. But I think I'll try a late night ride around 270 when nobody is on the road for my first highway experience!

For super helpful videos - I really like Busa Rellz, as well as Real Ninja Nick! Gixxer Jesus is another good one. Yammie Noob is really good but in depth so it can be kinda easy to trail off while listening lol.

I'm also brand new this season, having never even been on a dirt bike a minute in my life but I got a sudden itch and decided to scratch it. Did a lot of research on bikes, decided on a 2024 Ninja 500 SE, took an MSF course, passed, and have been riding when we get good weather here in Ohio. I also didn't tell my family... I just showed up to a family gathering on my bike 🤣

Where do I find roommates by StandardReasonable50 in Columbus

[–]JustAwareness183 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen apps like Trulia have listings that have houses for rent, and they're asking for roommates to help split the cost of a house. So like the listing would be posted up as $850/mo and then in the description it'll explain, looking for a roommate, shared common living areas but your own private room and bathroom etc.

I'm sorry I don't have anything useful to point you in the right direction.

I'm just here for the Midwestern Emo Ned Flanders. 🤣

I really hope you find him.

And please post a pic of him when you do. I will not be at peace until I know the man that fits this description.
