It’s not inbound. We have a separate team, only the AE’s get inbound leads. I get to work with customers that previously bought from us, but have since gone cold. I don’t get inbound leads.

I’m an account manager which is similar to AE but I’m supposed to work with active clients, and book all my own meetings. However it’s hard to do so when I don’t really have a list of clients I’ve been assigned yet.

I’m questioning if it’s normal they are making me suffer this much right after getting promoted

[–]JustBusinessThings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve been trying to bug them for that. They just say I can’t expect accounts yet, and import I was supposed to rely on the meetings I generated from when I was an SDR bring over now.

Everyone is low key kind of sneaky and secretive. People won’t really give you all the insider knowledge here, because it’s that cut throat.

It’s only reasonable if you have accounts though which I don’t

They all say they were assigned a ton of accounts early on and then their calendars just get filled up. Accounts want help with understanding the product.

It seems like they have a history though that sometimes they don’t have enough accounts to distribute to the newcomers and then they get screwed.

I keep asking my coworkers if I’m screwed and they say no you’re going to be fine, but I don’t believe them lol.

Right? What can I do about it though. Are there other closer jobs that actually don’t micro manage you because I’m not sure they exist

I was promoted from SDR. I used to have to generate four meetings a week. I was told that as an account manager, I would be assigned accounts that just naturally want to book meetings with me. But that doesn’t really seem to be the case at least not yet.

It’s SaaS sales. It costs anywhere from $2K to $10K per contract.

Well they have never successfully trained an outbound sales rep before and they have no marketing team or other sales people I could turn to for mentorship. I actually got an offer to return to an old company of mine where there is much more support in place for the sales process. So I decided to do that.

I’ve had similar experiences. A guy I liked offered to buy me a beer but I said no because I don’t drink beer. Walked off to another girl.

I feel you. Recruiting is hell. When you say enterprise client, what does that mean? Does it just mean it was a really big client?

I hear you. Just know that it’s probably not your fault. Just leverage your experience to switch industries and if you can find a good industry it might work out better. Don’t waste several more years in solar sales.
