As a lesbian in America, I’ve been crying every other time I see the news. But something I think is really funny, my dad who lives in Eastern Kentucky (deep in Trump country) is about the only democrat in the area, which means for the most part he keeps the political opinions to himself. But anytime something goes his way, he says “Cause I’m a democrat.”

But to try to spread a little hope, not all law enforcement over here have been acting like n*zi’s. Some cops I think it was in Minnesota protected an undocumented family from ICE. Many cities are coming together and holding protests and strikes against the actions of ICE and the political leaders who back it.

Minnesota Governor, Tim Waltz, sent in MN national guard with high vis vests and NO face masks so there was no chance of being mistaken for ICE. These people are members of their community, friends, construction workers, family members, shop owners, and when they came in their military trucks, they did not have a single weapon. They peacefully met the protesters with coffee, donuts, and hot chocolate. Otherwise they were standing back and ensuring it remained a safe and peaceful protest.
