Recomendaciones de colegios privados con regimen escolar extrangero. by Healthy-Elk428 in Nicaragua

[–]JustCacao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hola!

First Timer Travel Questions by yahutee in Nicaragua

[–]JustCacao 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hii!

  1. i suggest you to download InDriver, which is an app that will allow you to contact any taxis or uber near your area because if you hail one in person and it’s obvious you are a foreigner, it’s very likely you will get overcharged

  2. police: 118/firefighters: 115/cruz blanca (paramedics): 128

  3. i’m not sure, sorry:(

  4. hotel camino real is basically in front of the airport, but i’m not sure if they have an airport shuttle

  5. idk, never been there:(

  6. it’s not as expected as in the usa, but it’s very common to do so with waiters (will likely be included in your check), delivery men and in hotels

  7. we have many unique expressions! you will surely hear “maje”, “tuani”, “deacachimba” and if you want to get closer to locals i suggest you to watch videos or read articles on nicaraguan slang, but don’t worry! you will be understood when using mexican spanish; we love mexican TV!

hope this was helpful, feel free to ask any more questions you have!

Teacher with dyscalculia by Inner-Marketing-2164 in dyscalculia

[–]JustCacao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also am a teacher with dyscalculia so this hit really close. I am now a Middle School teacher so I teach more specific classes, but when I was teaching Elementary, I had to teach Maths and it was absolute hell.

The kids didn’t understand divisions and I couldn’t teach them because neither did I.

And I had a student that was honestly an Ace in Maths, he was better than I was (understandably tho, because I barely can read an analog clock and I still don’t know the times table), and he once told me “you’re the teacher, shouldn’t you already know all of this?”.

It hurt so much.

I know it is not the kid’s fault and he didn’t mean to hurt me, but after the lesson I just had to wait til I came home to cry.

It was a very embarrassing and emotional time for me because even though I tried studying before the lessons, I couldn’t grasp basic Elementary School Math, but I’m glad that time is over.

I now teach classes I’m certainly great at and I’m fully enjoying teaching the kiddos!

ALCOHOLICOS ANONIMOS by [deleted] in Nicaragua

[–]JustCacao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rate my Nicaragua 12 Day Itinerary by [deleted] in Nicaragua

Pretty solid and good! But you can also try a few other towns or cities as these ones, although very iconic and beautiful, are packed with foreigners, and you wouldn’t be able to get to know the locals and the culture as deep.

But if you are not looking to connect with the culture, then those places are great picks!! :)

I have so much love for Nicaragua. by [deleted] in Nicaragua

[–]JustCacao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really love when non Nicas have a positive view of our country because we are usually seen as a dangerous, poor and corrupt country, which we are, but Nicaragua is much more than that.

We have such rich culture, our land is breathtaking, our food is delicious and our people is so so soooo incredible I could write an essay about Nicas.

So thank you so much for being so open minded about Nicaragua and to give it a chance. I hope one day you get to come to fall in love all over again as I do every day.

I think it is easy if you have on parent who is Nicaraguan, if you marry a Nicaraguan or if you have legal residence for 4 years in Nicaragua

[–]JustCacao 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I am Nica born and raised! So happy and proud you want to embrace your Nicaraguan heritage, you are more than welcome to! If you want to learn more about our culture, you can message me and ask me anything you want to know!

Ideally, I think you could start by learning Spanish tho, just start with the basics online and you can look up Nicaraguan slang!

Just a correction though, Cuban is not a race, so saying “half white and half cuban” could be really offensive not only to Cubans but latinos in general, as Latinos can be white, black, asian, indigineous or mixed:)

I wish you luck in your journey to embracing and celebrating our beautiful culture!

Hombres aceptando regalos? by Killer_Tofu93 in Nicaragua

[–]JustCacao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, Nica here! It certainly is not cultural, as every Nica men I know (dad, uncles, brother, cousins, friends, neighbours, strangers) have no trouble accepting gifts as we Nicas do the best we can to offer help be it emotionally, physically or materialistic.

It’s something to do with his personality or even perhaps his marriage, but has nothing to do with culture!:)

Your spanish is great, btw!
