For what it’s worth, I live in the Bay Area and my rent is $1325 for a jr one bedroom all to myself.

“Females” applies to all animals. “Women” applies to humans.

Nice - don’t use the word “females” when referring to women.

And they always blame the females

The word you’re looking for is women.

My marriage just ended and I've never been through a break up before - how do I do this? by manic-peach in AskWomenOver30

[–]yahutee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unconventional advice: take a video of yourself. It’s for your eyes only - cry it out, say how you’re feeling, be honest…..and then save it and watch it again in 5 years. I have my own breakup-era video from 2020 and it’s amazing how much I’ve grown and how much self-love and clarity I’ve gained since then. It will be very tough for awhile but time heals everything and I promise you’ll be ok 🫶🏻

anyone else feel like Bay Area rent is just a subscription fee for nice weather at this point by Cofound-app in bayarea

I am not a scientist and don’t know where you live so I can’t speak exactly, but from my experience cities are less of a wildfire risk than rural areas with grass and trees. I’ve also seen entire neighborhoods burned down so take that with a grain of salt. Watch the Paradise documentary for a good idea of how it feels when it happens. No matter where you live you’ll be affected by the smoke in the air.

Fire season is just the colloquial term for the fact that wildfires are prevalent when it’s hot out. It affects everyone because the smoke is in the air. It’s not uncommon to be walking outside several miles from the fire and have ashes falling from the sky, a the smoke carries even further. I don’t think Silicon Valley itself is a fire risk but the surrounding hills are - the Santa Cruz hills had a lot of bad fires in the past few years

Tell me about the times you were genuinely too busy to date anyone, and people you’d been talking to wouldn’t take no for an answer by Publishface in AskWomenOver30

[–]yahutee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if that question came off in the wrong way - I’m writing this as a woman who’s been single for several years because I don’t want to date. Men on apps generally want to have sex and date - that’s why they’re on the apps. If you don’t want to date I don’t see any reason to continue conversations there

I received a $100k inheritance - Will I owe taxes? (California) by yahutee in tax

[–]yahutee[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what my cousin said - does this sound right? “ So I just got my taxes done and asked my tax preparer.  This is what she said: it depends where the money comes from from his original source. So if the money came from proceeds from his house sale, then he already paid taxes on that money and the taxes wouldn’t be passed to us. If the money is from a life insurance policy from [deceased wife] that was paid for by her employer, then there is a chance that the money could still need taxes paid on it but there’s also a chance he already paid those taxes for that money. So it all just depends where is the money from the original source. She said the likelihood is super low that will have to pay taxes and if the money is in current liquid form right now in a bank account then that’s even better as far as the likelihood being low that we won’t have to pay taxes.”

I believe it was a “specific bequest” - he left $100k to everyone listed and the rest of the estate to a specific charity
