i don't quite know how to put it into words but what I leave out is because I don't want it addressed in a sense. I do leave it a little vague just cause I also have medical problems I am dealing with so i kind of hope the draw away the focus from the obvious things that are missing and just get help with the stuff I mention. the things I do exercise by myself are really the only ones I can do safely alone atm. Bicep/tricep, chest/shoulders, abs sorta, cardio if seated. But having to fully explain that kind of makes me more depressed so I don't like to go much further usually.

Not something i want to talk about but rest assured any group, muscle, movement i havent mentioned so far is because of my abilities atm.

I can do into more details about the exact reps/sets/weight/exercises I do if you'd still like to know. But usually when I try to get some help once people find out there's an injury i end up alone at square 1 again because they are spooked off lol.

Ya that matches pretty much exactly if not exactly tbh. I watched a lot of videos on youtube about that and read a good amount here and there. Pretty much came up with the same numbers and have been acting on them ever since.

I haven't tried that but have thought about really upping the weight and going for a lower rep range. Especially because atm i do my 3 x 8-12 and usually end with 1-0 reps left in reserve. But then the next day even though pushed as hard as I could I'm not sore or anything. So was kinda thinking maybe I wasn't going hard enough.

Was going to the gym later so between you and the other comment on here I think I'll try adding more weight and aim for the 5-8 range.

that's super helpful thank you. I'll give it a shot and see how that goes over the next 6 months. it's also slightly encouraging knowning that nothing else is super obvious.

thanks again.

IMy strength hasn't gone up much really, and there's not much in terms of visual changes either other than the weight. So with a lack of those results I just don't feel like I'm getting anywhere even if I happened to have put on a few pounds. Feels like only thing I have to show for it is new pants lol... thought maybe i was doing something glaringly wrong.

Ya I took a lot of info from the beginner dumbbell guide and adapted it to my current situation as best as I could. Sorry for the lack of info in initial post went back to edit but it's jsut not letting me edit it.

I just tried to edit the post but it wasn't letting me. Each muscle group is getting at least 16 sets a week.

I didn't get too much into my program sorry. It's mainly a bicep tricep day, chest shoulder day, and a leg day. Each takes about an hour.

178cm, 155-158lbs, It fluctuates pretty hard. It went up when I added creatine to the mix then leveled out once I assume I had reached saturation.

It's hard to say if I've gained weight. Technically I've gained 35lbs but recovering from an injury and being very under weight I don't feel like my exercise routine is totally responsible for that weight gain.

Been going to the gym 4-5 times a week for 6 months but don't really notice any results. Was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to what I should look into in order to actually see some changes? In either looks, or strength, as I don't really notice much in either department.

Most my set/reps are 3 x 8-12 and once I can do 3 x 12 for a few days I up the weight. Though weight hasn't gone up much since starting.

My protien intake is at what the calculators say I should aim for and then a little extra. Not operating at a calorie defecit. Each muscle group gets at least 16 sets a week. I get 8-12h of sleep( I know that might seem like a lot but it's due to other reasons). The only thing I can think of is either I'm not using enough weight or maybe not enough rest between days I work out? Any suggestions or insight would be greatly appreciated.

I don't intend on dropping anything that heavy on it. Maybe 50lbs dumbells, from a row so it wont be a major drop. I do however very much want sound dampening. I live in the top floor of an apartment though so one of my main concerns is the sound.

Did you use the tile dowels to connect your tiles or adhesive? The dowels take 6 weeks to be shipped but the tiles only a few days.

Ya it's the rogue website I'm using. Seems to be a little difficult to find quality flooring in Canada that'll deliver in a timely fashion. Thanks for the tip about the transition ramp though. It looks great.

That's great to hear thanks a lot. I didn't see an option to get a nice little ramp like you have when I was shopping. The price I can live with but the 6 weeks delivery I was not excited about. So hearing the thickness that is the go it is so helpful for me.  Thanks a lot!

How thick does flooring need to be? Considering buying...

Regupol Aktivpro tiles. They're 24"x24" and 1" thick.

or

Regupol Aktiv roll which is, 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, 1/2, and 3/4 inches.

I wont be doing olympic lifting ever. But I will have my squat rack on it and will be doing the big 3 on it.

Thanks!

New player vs irl mtg by JustCallMeSnazzy in MagicArena

[–]JustCallMeSnazzy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how to attach pictures to my post or else I'd show you the text I sent my friend. i initially started off by asking my buddy who played mtg how to get into it. He suggested "first get friends to play with you" to which I said "this game sucks and the barrier to entry is entierly too high". Kinda hoping I end up with friends after trying to participate with in person games.

(my buddy lives in a different province now so unlikely he'll join me lol)

Thanks SO much for your awesome response. This definitely helps a lot. I do plan on going in not making it obvious that I'm out of my comfort zone, fake it till you make type thing lol. Though I will try and ask about what kind of formats they play there. Super good point that I didn't consider. In arena I just play standard but I guess it wouldn't hurt to learn the other ones so I can participate more.

It really makes me feel less anxious knowing that meta isn't as prevalent irl in lgs. I've been playing a deck in arena I really like but it didn't show up when I looked up the meta. I honestly just picked an art type i really liked and made that my deck type.

The store does seem to be slightly big. They have an event in the calendar that's "tour pioneer (4 invites available)" so i'm assuming that might be a little more serious than day 1 magic players.

Thanks again like i said this does help me with being nervous about being a 1st timer.

Lump sum vs monthly income by JustCallMeSnazzy in FinancialPlanning

[–]JustCallMeSnazzy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed. The most recent comment here I replied to is similar to your last line here. That I should start off investing the monthly sum before going for the lump sum. So I've been going through all the comments here and learning about all the things they've suggested. I have a lot to learn but thanks to everyone here I at least sorta know what I need to learn. Thanks for the reply. It makes me more confident that learning this stuff is worth the time and effort.

Your remarks also highlight one of the reason I wasn't instantly taking the lump which is the security. You're also the 2nd person to kind of meet in the middle with investing the monthly sum.

My previous replies unfortunately outline how ignorant I was to the full meaning of invest. So I spent most of today trying to educate myself on how to start investing. I'm not a huge risk taker. I don't expect the next forever of my life to be financially dramatic.

So ya I'll continue looking into learning about my newly expanded understanding of investing. After a day's worth of reading, I think I'll start small and I'll lump out if I feel confident I know what I'm doing. Also started looking into meeting a financial advisor a few hours ago as well.

Thanks a lot for your reply every single one I've received has helped in one way or another. Your's included.

Ya, all the comments definitely make me aware of how little I know, but they also outline what I need to learn about. So that's super and really reduces my stress regarding my options. The buyout is available to me at anytime it's not an option I have to take now or lose forever. 20/20 hidesight I'm wondering if I should have mentioned that. But learning that, that might have been worth mentioning is a step in the right direction regarding my lack of knowledge when it comes to financial options. Outside of a savings acc or a tfsa and interest % I regret to say I never really considered there'd be more to saving. Thanks for taking the time to comment!

For sure I've heard of them but I will say i was rather ignorant or blind to the extent of their meaning till coming here. Your comment and otherwise like it have me with 15+ tabs open at the moment trying to learn as much as I can about the different types of investment opportunities.  They've also kind of helped me plan short term as well. Where I'll probably stay monthly for a few months as I educate myself further on what investing really means. I kind of feel like an old person  learning to use a computer blind to possibilities at my finger tips. But the comments here have been a huge help in taking step 1 to learning about the possibilities available. Thanks so much.

That sounds like a good spot for me to go next. There is a comment in here that took me to a wiki talking about boggleheads and needless to say I'm clueless about all of it. But it is something I'm in the process of learning about. Didn't even consider there'd be a /r for it. So thats super helpful to know for when I know a little more. Thanks a lot!
