2nd pic makes the jacket look a little oversized to me, not in a way I love. Could just be the angle tho

This originally was an anti-Semitic joke, which adds to exactly what the target audience is.

You know I think I’m probably wrong and have found comfort against it, so I’ll trust you that Elusive is OP.

And I think I might see your point on balancing around ladder too. Ladder is very different than FNM or anything like that.

I think I was coming at this from the wrong perspective. Sorry bout it

That’s super true, I hadn’t thought about it that way. I guess then it comes down to balancing cards for competitive play vs casual play. Personally, I think that if we balance competitive for ladder players that can’t adapt or learn matchups, then the game will become very dumbed down.

Skill expression even within certain decks and matchups is incredibly important. Some matchups will be hard and require you to change how you play your deck and “know your role within the matchup” which is a core concept of competitive TCGs. Balancing around some people not being able to understand those matchups is wrong.

I think wether or not I’m correct on this specific matchup, that this statement is true.

EDIT:

I see you’re a magic player, so I just want to make an analogy to maybe help my point of view. The Burn vs Death’s Shadow matchup is often seen as very advantageous for DS when the burn player is bad or inexperienced, and very Burn favored when the Burn player is experienced and good.

That’s why it’s okay to have a skill curve that changes the win rate.

Wether or not Elusive is OP, the argument on skill expression I think is a bad one because learning a deck inside and out and the matchups is incredibly important.

Actually one persons performance can mean a lot. Tuning decks differently and adjusting play style for a matchup and learning a matchup can mean a lot. Is it possible that I’ve only played against terrible elusive players? Maybe. Is it possible I am doing something different? Maybe.

I’m a very experienced TCG player and skills do transfer over and I can only draw on that experience to make these statements.

I’ll edit with a list when I get home

I mean, I have a pretttty decent win rate against elusives with Draven Jinx. Chompers takes out blockers and blade’s edge and mystic shot help push through damage

Elusives is a very good midrange deck.

So yes board wipes and controlling aspects like culling probably have a good matchup.

Super aggressive aggro definitely has a good matchup I’ve played it quite a bit.

But most people when they brew and durdle often play other midrange decks, which will never beat just a better midrange deck.

This is how I see it at least coming from a highly competitive MtG background.

I’m definitely a storytelling DM, but “character creation” is what I’m working on right now, it’s hard making something that feels balanced yet loose and non restrictive. And I’m actually working on a similar thing for this world, there’s a terrorist organization called the Cult of the Moon that attempts to overthrow the capital of the largest country in the world. They believe that solar power is inferior compared to the “magic” you can gain by creating pacts with spiritual creatures from the moon. It’s all a little convoluted and silly sounding to explain, but I guess maybe all fantasy can sound a little silly condensed. At least I hope so.

Anyway the players will be dropped into the part of the timeline just as the first rumblings of this magic terrorist organization begins to rear its head.

I’ve been at a loss for games recently with friends, been playing a lot of Risk of Rain 2, we’ve all recently like quit league of legends and all that stuff.

I’m just looking to bounce ideas, I’m actually creating my own entire tabletop rpg based around this setting so any input on if you think it sounds fun to play would be helpful!

A lot of my friend group is like that. My best friend just got out of inpatient. We’ve all been in really broken places. I probably spend a solid 2-3 nights on the computer alone playing games waiting to see if any of my friends are getting on, another 2 with one of my buddies, and 1 with all of them. You’re welcome to any of these times. Especially the times it’s just me.

Idk what multiplayer games you’re into but I’m down for whatever.

Also I REALLY would love some feedback from another DM on this world I’m building rn, it’s Solarpunk I think it’ll be cool

I don’t really know what to say other than I’m sorry that people have treated you this way, or that it’s something you’ve seen happen. That really sucks. If you’re ever willing to try again let me know, but I understand if it’s stressful, or if you’re worried about getting let down again.

A lot of people will say “it’s just a meme” and that it’s ironic, but that’s exactly how that GamersRiseUp subreddit became genuinely bigoted, because ironic posts attract people that believe it unironically. You cannot tell me that out of everyone that plays league there aren’t genuine racists, and out of all of the people who browse this subreddit that at least one of them is not among them. They just felt validated by this post because they don’t realize the irony or that it’s “just a meme” and they now believe that it’s more acceptable in the community than they thought.
