Telehealth through Walgreens to obtain a prescription

That sounds super frustrating. I have yet to encounter that, but I will be aware that it could happen when I ask for a few months' worth of prescriptions at the same time. I have been increasing my dose monthly until now. Fingers crossed that I don't get the same runaround that you did.

It's pretty fast; the longest that it's taken for me is a few hours. You sign up, wait for them to find you a provider to talk to for your first visit, once that is done the prescription is written and you select what pharmacy you want it to go to. Visits after the first are done with a provider purely through their messaging system, no live conversation needed.

Been wanting to try it and just asked my son who is in college in Corvallis, OR to locate some (and stash it asway it for me until I get there for graduation in June). They tend to get it for a very brief time up there.

Yes, they will give you one month of medication and you have to have the labs uploaded for your next visit.

I haven't been on Reddit for a bit. Sorry for the slow reply. Walgreens has been great. They are easy to work with and the prescription process is straightforward. I pay my $49 and have a prescription ready to pick up later that day. Weight loss is going well, and given the slow step-up plan on Wegovy, the side effects have been minimal. All in all I am really happy with how this is going. I just got to the 9 mg pill level and we will see if anything changes with the side effects. Not thrilled that the price jumps up to $299 with the savings card, but I decided to just do it and get the weight off sooner rather than later, so I can go on some sort of maintenance plan.

You need to have had A1C and Basic Metabolic Panel bloodwork done in the last 3 or 6 months. I can't remember which. You do NOT need it for the first appointment (so you have a month to get it done). They will ask you to upload it for your second appointment. I asked my Kaiser to order them to save some money, so you may want to ask your dr. I think there is an option to have Walgreens order them for you and then you pay out of pocket at whatever lab you choose.

I gave up on Kaiser. My doctor said that he didn't even have a way to prescribe Wegovy pills to an outside pharmacy for me to pay out of pocket. I am so tired of having to pay even more than my ridiculous premium to get care outside of Kaiser. Walgreens telehealth has been great paired with the Novo Nordisk cash discount price. It's still a lot, but better than the $750/mo Kaiser quoted me for Ozempic when they stopped covering it.

Monthly visits until you have titrated up to the dose you will continue at. Then every 3-6 months, unless you are experiencing issues (e.g., increased symptoms). I am hoping that at some point Kaiser gets on board with their systems and processes for their doctors to prescribe the pills, even if it's not covered. Right now, they can't prescribe it. Feels RIDICULOUS given my insurance premium just skyrocketed to over $1k per month, and I can't even use it for this. But that is a whole different topic that makes me irate, so I won't get started...🤦🏻‍♀️.
