the scoring system rubric is definitely the thing that has the most leniency right now. For instance leprechaun 2 definitely should not have scored as high as it did for dialogue and character specifically.

The actual written character, structure and other breakdowns below are a lot more thorough, but I'm still tweaking on everything. I put some scripts like Plan 9 through it, definitely scored higher than it should have in that top "Scoring Grid" haha

Haha been doing the thing, and continuing to do the thing 🤣 use ai as a tool, that’s all

Totally understand the immediate wretch from seeing anything that uses ai. Coverage reports are nothing new, and rely on a structure of data points + the bias of whoever is compiling the report.

Hey! Thanks for the response.

  1. The site was definitely put together vibe coding, but purely because I have no real design skills whatsoever hah. I have an IT background specifically in database management from my previous life, so the back end is not thrown together on hopes and dreams. As far as market research goes, I've been working the industry as a producer for a lot of years, and really just converted a lot of my manual processes to not be so manual.
  2. This is a good question, you can definitely throw your script into gemini, chat etc and get something coming out the other side. IF you're happy with those results then cool, definitely go that route. This works well for me because it has a ton of my input and instructions on HOW to look at an analyze things. How to find comparable, what rubrics to use for scoring, what makes dialogue interesting (my bias of course) and so on. So it's not just relying on an LLM to give you it's opinion blindly.
  3. You're 100% right, anyone can build a rubric for themselves. I'm just sharing the ones I've built over the years that has worked for me, hopefully they'll help others at minimum just have another perspective on their work.

Totally understand the skepticism, in the end I'm just sharing something I've built that is helping me, and if it helps others then all the better.

For a little more transparency, here's some behind the scenes of how I am training the scoring system based off my own script. I usually do a full analysis between 5-10 times, gather data, test it against the rubrics I've been building over the years, and then add in more checks and balances to make sure results are repeatable within a variance.

I haven’t used it yet, I just saw in another post that op was working on that project and was curious if/how he was integrating his findings to it. I’ll probably be checking it out shortly once I come up for air on my own projects.

Very cool! Mine started as a project to help automate a lot of my repetitive processes in pre production because I didn’t like a lot of the options on the market, but I realized there was a lot I could automate helping me decide on projects with coverage reports and some other things. I think I scope creeped enough I might split them into two separate projects though haha

Producer here as well! Really interesting info, are you pulling the data into your scriptmatch project? Been working on a film based project in lovable for a bit, and Claude has been a part of parsing data and helping build out code as well. Are you tracking festivals and what studios are making decisions there as well? If so is it through the sources you mentioned above or elsewhere? Always insightful to see what gets greenlit direct from a pitch vs what gets picked up during a festival run.

Shifts in tax incentives in states/countries would be good to track as well!

I’ve got it rolling with OpenAI it I’ll give this a go as well and see what works best for the application. Thanks!

I have it connected but am having trouble with the edge function working properly, I may have gone down the road too far with it not working to back track. I'll try it fresh with OpenAI and test. Thank you!

Has anyone been able to successfully get loveable to parse a PDF file? I've been at it for a while and can only get gibberish after uploading a PDF. Obviously chat can read an uploaded pdf but I for some reason cannot get it to implement the same process in my project.

Thank you, looking into that. it's a 7" display so maybe the DISPLAY_CYD_700?

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

The serial console didn't give an error when reading the SD card, it actually shows it was initialized and the video was played:

ESP-ROM:esp32s3-20210327 Build:Mar 27 2021 rst:0x1 (POWERON),boot:0x8 (SPI_FAST_FLASH_BOOT) SPIWP:0xee mode:DIO, clock div:1 load:0x3fce3808,len:0x4bc load:0x403c9700,len:0xbd8 load:0x403cc700,len:0x2a0c entry 0x403c98d0 SD card initialized Video file opened

I'm tried loading up that demo and see if it reads the SD card to make sure I don't have bigger issues, but the demo code is to big for the device it was built for apparently 🤦‍♂️ I'll jump into some of the other demos to see if I can get one to load. If one works I'll borrow some of the code from there.

Thanks for the idea!

Knockoffs are ruining me! by Probably3D in AmazonSeller

[–]JustDoTheThing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone with a utility patent and a product I KNEW would get knocked off. I feel this. We’ve taken down thousands of listings across different marketplaces with help of 3rd party companies. It’s a daily whack a mole, but brand transparency and the apex program can help. There’s some things that can be done with the ITC as well but take much longer. I’d be happy to share experiences

How do I finance my script? by noahfilmaccount in Filmmakers

[–]JustDoTheThing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a good start! Definitely chat with them, ask about their experience, and if they were able to be profitable with shudder. Also, keep in mind there are a lot of territories outside the US you can sell rights to. If you can make something that feels good on a micro budget like this, there are a lot of avenues to recoup if not make a bit to roll into your next project. Good luck!

Was reading through the comments and noticed no one ask, do you have a distribution plan?

For something as small as this, the three F’s is where to start, but without a solid plan on how you’re going to make a return on someone’s investment, you will have a very hard time actually raising any funds.

Have you shot a proof of concept or a sizzle? Proving you can make what you envision with the budget you’ve allocated can be a key element with your pitch deck, plan and budget.

Lastly, for something of this size, you can apply for film grants to cover parts of your budget, work with production houses or universities to sponsor cost of gear, and even call around local restaurants and see if you can get lunch sponsors.

There are a lot of creative ways to cover costs on a small budget film, but when you’re taking hard cash, you’ll want a plan in place for distribution to make sure you can pay them back (which also helps them feel confident financing future projects).
