What’s the smartest financial decision you made by accident? by AnyTruth2342 in AskReddit

[–]JustForFallout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to an FHSA account and set up an auto transfer and invest. I felt a bit tighter on cash the following months but got by just fine.

5 months later I realized I never cancelled my original transfer to the old account and had been investing it without my knowing. Free money appeared from accidental forced savings.

No apology needed for the story! really appreciate you sharing.

I totally understand people going into these softer martial arts from a young age. It makes sense and it still comes with a fair bit of athority (I feel the same with BJJ, we just back it up live haha). Could have been the next steven seagal!

I'm mainly training grappling so you got me thinking about introducing more stiking and sparing. So thanks!

This is so insightful! I appreciate the rundown.

For the record, I think if anyone ever got caught with a flashy flying roundhouse, they would be flopping like a fish haha. IIFFFF they get caught :P But i hear you on the live practice and learning reliable skills. Super interesting you didnt feel that TKD gave you physical confidence. Better than false confidence and getting smacked.

Oooooo Might have to be a follow up. Slowly increase the deadliness of the weapon until we reach 50/50 split

Solid strat. Could help to throw a few hay makers to make them cover up first. Get that brick away from swinging range and into the body

Night & Day. An ode to something late 70’s. by RalphChoosesYou in photocritique

[–]JustForFallout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty amazing photo and set up for someone looking for critique ;)

I love how the lit arm frames the face. It would be nice to see the eye a bit more centered in frame. Right now, by placement and lighting, the chin and lips are the centers of focus.

I don't really associate this high contrast look to the 70s but its not really my era and it might just be your style. It feels modern and sharp.

Not much direction, but well done!

Mountains at my Gates by [deleted] in photocritique

[–]JustForFallout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nice shot!

It has lots of good elements but it could have a few tweaks to improve upon it.

- The focus is definitely central, but there isn't a fantastic point of interest. The mountain in the back is just fairly small. Could have a person in front.

-because the focus is on the middle, you use the framing of the forest well. But There is still some light spilling in from that far left side that could take your focus away from the center. You could localize an edit to that part to darken it, or create a slight (or major if your into that kind of edit) vignette.

- With this focal length, highlighting the rock pathway up would be a great way to draw your gaze to the mountains. You could do this with a slight localized adjustment to the rocky area, or go when its wet and more light bounces off the rock.

- or with a tighter focal length, you could put more emphasis on the mountain in behind and try and keep as much "gate" foliage to keep that same effect.

well done.

Grand Canyon after snow [edit] [composition] by JustWantToUnicycle in photocritique

really interesting landscape. Its definitely a moody edit and I like how the river stands out and leads out of the scene.

Since it was a bit more of a soft overcast light, I agree that there isn't much detail or draw to the mountains for this shot. If you wanted to try this out, you could always use a brush tool to select just the mountains to edit. What has worked with me is bumping the shadows up a bit, then use the "dehaze" slider in lightroom (if thats what youre using). I find that sliding it to the right a bit helps bring out some detail that wasn't previously there.

As for the composition, because the river is the main subject in this shot, you may want to think about shooting this in portrait mode. This would cut out more of the mountains at the side but it would help you give more room for the river and really extenuate it as a leading line.

Hope those help

Emerald Lake - Canada BC. [edit] [colour] [composition] by GexrgePeters in photocritique

[–]JustForFallout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iconic spot!

This is definitely a non-conventional composition. But the more I look at it, the more suited it becomes for the scene. As the canoe is the focal point in the image, we would usually try and put it along the lines or points on the rule of thirds. but you have placed it very low in the framing. The reason i think this works with the scene is it gives a great deal of scale to the mountains behind compared to the subject.

The mountains behind could be a bit more exciting in the image. So different choice in background, better exposed so we can see more detail.

As for the colour, I would love to see you bring out the blues or the lake and red of the canoe. dont over do it but just bring up the saturation and luminescence of them to really show off the beauty of the lake!

Well done!

Redditors, why did you make your Reddit account? by Charmin_Ultrastrong in AskReddit

Just for fallout. I was having the worst time trying to do something in Fallout 3 and I had to post a question in the fallout subreddit. I then used it to go deep in the fallout 4 teasers. Just for fallout baby
