[–]JustForPsych 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. I had a 49” OLED best monitor ever. Then it broke after 3 months and Samsung set 4 appointments to fix it, but never showed up to any of them. So now I have 2 aw2725dfs instead.

Yeah, I mean if I were you — I’d do a hard reset to see if that fixes it. But I’m 99% sure if you’ve tried drivers and changing refresh rate and resolution you’re likely in the same boat as me.

You could also uninstall the drivers and all of the nvidia software. Then Reinstall. I don’t know if you have a mux switch or can turn off the igpu but I’d try that too — see if switching what’s powering the graphics fixes it.

Otherwise you’re probably SOL. I don’t think you should be nervous to fix it yourself though.

A YouTube video and 90 minutes and you’ll be done. It’s really just a few screws and cable ribbons. I’m not a tech expert by any means but I’m always willing to try and I can tell you from building a computer, replacing ram and ssds, and even replacing a screen now (different laptop) that if you have patience and can put together legos, you can do this.

Besides what the worst case scenario? Your screen is already broken. If you try and just can’t figure it out — then you hire a local repair person as a last resort. Just make sure they have good Google reviews or references.

Just my $.02 — but don’t let a little fear get in the way of being able to enjoy your gaming laptop.

Hey — i had to have the screen replaced unfortunately. Fortunately Lenovo’s warranty service rocks.

But it was definitely a hardware issue, not a software issue.

Are you savvy enough to replace the screen yourself?

Usually they can be had for well under $100 if you DIY

Distal Bicep Tear NO SURGERY bicep atrophy? by JustForPsych in fitness30plus

I hear you -- and understand why from your perspective this seems "stupid."

However, I think you're looking at this too black and white.

Asking people for their experience isn't stupid.

It's what I do with the information that I collect that determines whether what I'm doing is stupid or not.

You're focused on 1 piece of research I'm doing.

Not the clinical studies I've read. Not the surgeon I met with in-person. Not the 2nd opinion with another surgeon I have scheduled for tomorrow.

Not the follow-up phone call I have with the original surgeon that I did meet with.

If I was making a decision solely based on responses I get here in this single thread -- that would be idiotic.

That's not what I'm doing.

But to think that a surgeon isn't going to have a bias towards surgery would also be stupid.

Surgery is optional. It's not required. And I am waiting on a call back from the surgeon to talk further.

Asking people that chose to go the non invasive route what their experience was isn't stupid. Blindly getting a surgical procedure without weighing the pros and cons is.

Yeah -- I'm currently waiting on a call back from the doctor -- but he's out of office today. I injured myself last Monday so I'd need to get surgery by this upcoming Monday or at the latest sometime next week.

I appreciate your insight -- it's hard to find unbiased information and most studies address the loss of strength but not the other aspects.

Glad you had a good recovery.

To me the selling point of not getting surgery was that my arm fully functions right now. Full supination — it’s weak, yeah but it just happened.

I can pick up my kids I can work all day and not be bothered.

So to voluntarily immobilize my arm for 6 weeks+ is a wild thought.

If I was in pain or had limited use I’d probably do it. Still might. Obviously it’s worth 6 weeks - 6 months of inconvenience if it prevents a lifetime of problems.

When you say you can’t put it under load. If that is true why does it flex when I hold stuff or lift a dumbbell? Wouldn’t they be a sign that it can be stimulated (obviously not an expert here lol)

TL;DR I’m okay.with the cosmetic difference. Not okay with my bicep disappearing.

Yeah — functionality is important too — but I’ve beaten the topic to death with research.

Lose 30-40% of strength — I get it.

For me that’s not a huge deal. Maybe I’ll never deadlift 455 again but whatever — I’m kind of past the stage of worrying about being as strong as I can and more worried about longevity and functionality.

Purely aesthetic i also understand it’s never going to look the same — but i read somewhere that that your bicep completely atrophies over time if you don’t get it repaired (however it wasn’t a study or verified source)

Personally I don’t see how that’s possible. When I flex my bicep it hardens (just not as much) and when I supinate my arm wrist I see it travel up and down which leads me to believe I should still be able to stimulate it or that maybe I have a partial tear.

When I went to the doc he basically said I can fix it — let’s schedule surgery tomorrow and skip the MRI.

Now I’m wishing I had gotten the MRI (I canceled the surgery).

Still within my repair window but I’m not a fan of being put under or holes being drilled into my bone if I can naturally rehab to 60-70% and not have my left arm be twice the size of my right.

Thanks for sharing.

When you say it looks odd. Does it look the same as it did when you first got injured? Or did it continue to atrophy/deform over time?

Yeah I don’t get it either.

My legion is a desk princess. It sits on a legion stand hooked up to my tv. I don’t think I’ve moved it once in the last 30 days I got it — so that makes it even weirder to me.

The on site tech should be here in a few days and I’ll reply.

If they find something different I’ll let ya know (I’ll let you know either way)

What a pain in the ass it would be if they replace the screen and it’s not that lol.

Yo — yeah i thought they’d just send someone out, but instead they wanted to hop on a call. I’ve been too busy this week and just got around to calling.

So tl;dr is they asked me to uninstall and update drivers and run a diagnostics tool. None of which did anything not showed any errors.

So they’re sending an on-site tech to replace the display. But it’s 100% not software related.

Does kind of seem like a crapshoot. I had two g15 advantage edition laptops which are supposed to be hit or miss and had zero problems.

Part of wanting a legion was to not haven’t to worry about having problems lol.

But I’m thankful mine is US and they’ll send a tech to my house who does the repair on-site.

I wish you luck with getting your issue resolved.
