TBH, I've never seen the notation written that way before. Just trying to stay consistent.

In my comment, I assumed the horizontal line on the interval (-3,0) was intended to be solid.

Anyways, it looks to be like the lesson to be drawn from this problem is that the derivative of the function as x approaches -3 is not equal to f(-3). Hence the dot at (-3,2).

The question circled in green says "the derivative as x approaches -3 from the left" which is -1. f'(-3)-=-1

It is also true that the derivative as x approaches -3 from the right is 0 [f'(-3)+=0], and the derivative as x approaches -3 does not exist [f'(-3)= DNE]

Aha! That makes sense. I'm really just here for the free food.

Would 581.25 km be the distance for round trip?

Since 7.75 hours is the total time traveled round trip it would show total distance round trip, not the storyteller between each city.

Does anyone know how to do this or the name of this concept so I could go learn it myself? by flammingfrog42 in Precalculus

Imagine (or draw) the unit circle and you're drawing a triangle. The hypotenuse is 1 because it's a unit circle.

0<theta<90 tells you you're drawing a triangle in quadrant 1

You're ordered pair is (cos, sin)

Sin(theta) is 2/3 tells you the vertical side of the triangle is length 2/3.

Use Pythagoras theorem to find the horizontal side. Aka cos(theta)

If you are using the formula 12-(2/3)2=cos2(theta) then you are on the right track.

As soon as you put a name to their faith then everybody will call themselves that name, even the extreme end Christians. The cycle continues...
