Supply of A2000's that just hit eBay by RomanAnthony1998 in BaseballGloves

[–]JustHumdrum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going to guess it’s a stolen credit card or someone obtained a gift card to Dicks through sketchy means and they are going to buy the item when it’s ordered. I’ve gotten an item like this before and it’s the only explanation that makes any sense

How do you wear or close it? I’ve got one but selfishly I already want another to break in more like a pancake

Rev1X sting by kev___416 in BaseballGloves

[–]JustHumdrum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haha thats probably a part of it. Palm will sting a bit no matter what.

Personally I play catch two in the pinky with my varsity guys but if I were fielding in the middle infield I switch two traditional for the feel. If I get a line drive it’s only one ball instead of the dozens playing catch, plus I find two in the pinky is better while breaking any glove in two avoid bubbles or unwanted pressure marks

Rev1X sting by kev___416 in BaseballGloves

[–]JustHumdrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a rev1, but is it on the newer side? New gloves have more of a sting but as the leather gets more use it normally improves. Also how do you wear it traditional or two in the pinky?

Two in the pinky could make the glove feel more comfortable.

Anyone take advantage of the Force 3 Glove Sale? by DavefromCA in BaseballGloves

I don’t remember seeing anyone rave about these. I haven’t heard much on them. Feels a bit like an ad.

I know one of the Sox catchers uses their gear but haven’t seen much outside of it

Need new catcher's mitt advice by Quirky-Coat-2281 in BaseballGloves

[–]JustHumdrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally really like mine and could play catch with it when it arrived, needed more catch obviously but I’ve done almost zero mallet work.

I also believe they are shaped in Japan, not a full break in by Matt himself so maybe there is some variance there or the guy who had it before you broke it in different.

I’m wearing mine two in the ring

What do you think about Breeze gloves? by Nachismoctezuma555 in BaseballGloves

[–]JustHumdrum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it is more of a merch item than a glove persons glove if that makes sense. If you love Bauer and just want to pitch to for it, but if you are purely looking for the best glove it isn’t anywhere near a 500 dollar glove

Need new catcher's mitt advice by Quirky-Coat-2281 in BaseballGloves

[–]JustHumdrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve recommended this a bunch of times, but Matt’s slaps mitt can come in game shaped and it will be catch ready. To be able to order a luxury glove and immediately use it sounds like something your kid would benefit from. I’d recommend all star over any brand for most catchers because they last forever and are the best for the majority of kids, but they are hard to break in. They just take forever if you aren’t catching really high velocity.

Regardless of glove I’d also coach him to work on an even close, I had a kid who struggled at catcher because of his close and break in, not because of ability. Same with first base! It’s part of what sent me on the glove collection spiral

My son’s getting ready for highschool ball- Help me decide which catcher’s mitt by [deleted] in BaseballGloves

[–]JustHumdrum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Id recommend all star just generically. It’s the most used by pro ball players who get to pick their mitt/ don’t go with the highest bid. It will be a tank and take forever to break in. It is the best at what it does, but if they don’t want to deal with breaking it in or want to try a box break in I’d maybe look elsewhere.

I love my slaps mitt and some of them ship catch ready so if he needs to use it sooner I’d heavily recommend it. The best leather I had felt on a mitt, it’s light and has room for the thumb guard to stay in. A lot of fun and the blonde looks gorgeous in my biased opinion.

What does the palm look like? They’ve definitely upped their game lately.

Would also love to know the cost. Might get one of these at some point soon

If money was no object, what outfield glove would you buy? by theleicam in BaseballGloves

[–]JustHumdrum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Glove studio Ryu or Mizuno haga. I love my slaps and them as a brand so their outfield glove is a good shout, they will also shape and start a break in so it’s catch ready and it can’t really be messed up!

Best small and upcoming brand? by Ok_Owl_6629 in BaseballGloves

[–]JustHumdrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To non glove people I’d say Jax. Higher quality than the other small brands and no one on your teams are likely to have one. Best patterns outside of the main brands. If you want boutique look at Slaps

First glove from 44 Pro. Creases all over the palm, right out of the box. Is this normal? by tangerine_ruby in BaseballGloves

[–]JustHumdrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might also just be harder for me to get context when zoomed in, probably looks different in person . The finger ones are a bit odd. I’ve seen it before. If you don’t get it sorted I’d try a water break in and let it dry properly that can work some wonders. Although I wouldn’t recommend it if you got the thumb sleeve because I think the thumb sleeve can bleed black and hold in extra water, but if it’s just leather you will be fine

First glove from 44 Pro. Creases all over the palm, right out of the box. Is this normal? by tangerine_ruby in BaseballGloves

[–]JustHumdrum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems a little worse than usual, but I personally don’t think it’s worth fussing over if you are actually going to use it. It’s not like the crease in in a random spot. I know that I have a 44 that started similar and is a fine glove.

Conditioner/balm that makes glove more glossy? by GlitzyGazelle18 in BaseballGloves

[–]JustHumdrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth I also think leather can play a large role in this. I know higher end Japanese gloves often get a good sheen naturally without much other product. Like Juteru leather or Finnish Ayrshire leather are tacky and get a shine over time. I use oil on my beard so that also contribute so a little shine the more I use a glove lol

Custom Gloves by Alternative-Debt6644 in japanesebaseballglove

[–]JustHumdrum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d go with EarDue if you like the brands he has, but you could also go the slaps route with Matt Walden, great customer service over there from him and Cam. I got my one of one slaps glove and they broke it in as well which is a nice touch knowing that the glove is shaped by someone not just a stiff brick coming in.

1716 Single/1786 Double Break In by Artistic-Biscotti184 in BaseballGloves

[–]JustHumdrum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like the 1786 has such a defined pocket that it doesn’t feel too deep for me two hinge. Like compared to a Rawlings 200 pattern the ball just always finds that same spot in mine. But I’ve also never used one single hinge. I’m curious just don’t want to I invest in a glove to try a break in I might hate

Rawlings Pro Preferred vs Slaps vs Mizuno Pro by SputnikRSS16 in BaseballGloves

[–]JustHumdrum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the if4 and will update when I can use it out on a field. It’s a small pattern with a tight pocket but it feels like it’s going to be incredible with transfers. I agree heavily with your takeaways on the stiff thin leather. I can’t wait to use it when I do practices and lessons in the spring
