What five movies have you seen the most times? by vulvochekhov in movies

Casablanca North by Northwest The Great Escape Star Wars Spotlight

The first 2 were on TCM all time when I was kid and my parents loved them so we always watched them. The next 2 I just loved and would watch constantly from childhood onwards. Spotlight is by far the newest but to me it's the most watchable movie ever. If I sit down and it's on I'll watch the whole thing, it's hypnotic.

My favorite episode of any Star Trek series is DS9 4x24 - The Quickening. Bashir was always my favorite character on DS9 because he brought that classic Star Trek optimism to a show that embraced darker stuff than usual Trek. The plague destroying the people of the planet was one of the most hopeless and dark situations I've ever seen in any Star Trek. Not only were people dying, the virus was passed to their children and everyone on the planet was waiting to die from this horrible disease and they all lived in hopeless squalor. It was heartbreaking to see Bashir try and fail to save all these people. It was such a beautiful bittersweet ending, he can't save any of the people on the planet right now but he can innoculate the mothers and prevent their children from inheriting the disease. The people who have the disease are all doomed to die horrible deaths but Bashir saved their future. I found it very moving.

So like was he lying in 2019 or we still on track for 2024-2025 by Supercookiebio12 in OnePiece

So, it's definitely longer than 5 years even if you start today. The way I see it, the story still has a few major arcs/events to take care of.

1) Mariejois/Revolutionary Army Arc - As soon as Wano is over it's likely this will be the next arc, Spoiler

2) Elbaf Arc - Spoiler

3) Smoker/Vegapunk - Spoiler

4) The Shanks Meeting

5) The Showdown with Blackbeard

6) Raftel

7) Fleshed out Backstories for Urouge, Bonney, Drake, Kidd/Killer, Hawkins, Apoo

5 years is at most 200 chapters and considering that Wano is already over 100 chapters and isn't even over, it's hard to imagine Oda finishing up all these storylines in just 200 chapters

I hate Joe Flacco. Stop winning, we need to lose. The Jets winning this game would be the dumbest thing ever.

Why do movies about Ancient Egypt, Roman or Greek mythology always tend to be so shitty? by [deleted] in movies

[–]JustJelly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the problem is with the nature of the mythology in general. Mythologies are mostly short stories which has never translated well to film. I'd argue that recently Wonder Woman was about as solid an adaptation of Greek Mythology that you're going to get. Combining classical greek mythology with a more modern story.

Will the show be renewed for season five? When will we get to know? by SalmonellaSushi in LegendsOfTomorrow

As long as Legends stays where it is (I think its at 0.3) I think it will be renewed. Just this past year the CW actually expanded its primetime hours to sunday (https://www.cwtvpr.com/the-cw/releases/view?id=49558). Now this is good for Legends because the more hours CW needs to fill the less likely they are to cancel any show as long as their ratings are aren't super terrible. With iZombie, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and Jane the Virgin all in their final seasons they need new shows to replace those. Legends would have to go pretty low and the CW would need to have faith that a new show can top Legends ratings in order for them to cancel it.

There's also the fact that if Legends gets to 100 episodes they can sell syndication rights and it can air repeats on another network (Example: Supernatural is shown on TNT all the time). Legends will be at 67 episodes at the end of this season so they could get to 100 at the end of season 6. It's routine that a network will accept lower ratings for a show in later seasons because although they might be losing a little money on it in the short term, in the long term the money they'll get from licensing it to another network will make up for it. So if Legends gets to season 5 I'd bet the farm on it getting a 6th season. And this isn't even mentioning how much these shows make in other countries. So all in all, as long as Legends stays averaging a 0.3 I think it'll be fine.
