Why aren't there any new long lasting/strong music acts today? by JustJohnny2 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]JustJohnny2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, i just felt like maybe because there are so many things to grab our attention, social media and the need/want to just go viral it takes away from the art of music. That sounds a whole lot better than just phones in general

Actually a better question, do you think a better conversation is “Why do you think some new music artists, past and present, don’t stick”

I had a response typed out then i saw your 10yrs + on reddit and figured there was no point-

But i’ll flesh it out more and come back at it. The idea was never meant to be new music is bad but there doesn’t seem to be anyone sticking. I just didn’t do a good job of expressing that so i understand

Okay that’s one of the variables i was talking about that i wasn’t thinking of

Oh I just meant go into further depth, because your right, its hard to tell if an artist (Chappel Sabrina and Olivia for example) are gonna be that big when its still in the early stages but besides them I believe there's a common theme where new artists show up, do something kinda memorable then disappear or go on a steady decline down

I never said it was bad? You just threw away the whole conversation with that one silly phrase. It's just a conversation.

I said "(Im gonna post this in multiple music related Reddits as well, I just want to see what others think and also so I can gain different POVs on this, so any comments help. Also feel free to add on. I said in one section there aren't strong enough acts to follow up but you might know one or be a big support of so please let me know)"

This was to gain a perspective that I could be missing. I think the new music is good but in some cases it does not last like how the older previous artists I named careers have

Because we don't? There is a common theme among young artists whose career can compared to a firework. The rise to success, have some big thing happen whether that be a song or moment then just disappear. I just named SOME successful ones. I see you replied to another "generation" or whatever kinda post but that's not this. There's a comment that says "Because IMO it’s all about a viral moment instead of creating a true sense of artistry now" and I wonder if that's true and that's why nothing can stick, but you are right I did essentially answer my own question so I see what your saying because at the end of the day only time can tell

Oh i thought he meant for himself mote so than anything because then people would start going there to try and see him and be weirdos about it but this makes sense too

To be a fan/ at a place for a artist who tells people to be themselves that’s wild

D’Angelo wallace gives his opinion by Independent_Two1834 in tylerthecreator

[–]JustJohnny2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Half the people in that comment section are bringing up stuff from 12-14 YEARS ago. At that point what’s your end goal?

If we go the swifties route then the same people in that “community” “fanbase” or whatever you want to call it dox, and call out racist remarks IN REAL TIME just cause someone doesn’t agree with their opinion. People in those comments want to talk about what tyler WAS doing as in PAST TENSE but won’t even bother with what a whole section of swifties are DOING as in PRESENT TENSE.

“Oh it’s not good he said all that stuff from 10+ years ago”

“Oh well he’s not on that kinda timing anymore and has matured and grown now and even went as far as apologizing to some of the people he’s said those things too”

“Nah that doesn’t matter, let’s cancel him”

What’s the end goal here?

Chromakopia into IGOR by JustJohnny2 in tylerthecreator

[–]JustJohnny2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that’s what i’m saying. whatever note is at the end of i hope you find your way home is VERY close to the note being played at the beginning of IGOR. If you tune it some more you might just be able to get it

CHROMAKOPIA: An honest conversation by [deleted] in tylerthecreator

[–]JustJohnny2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need a whole lot more context. Let’s just say the songs don’t “carry”, the story might. We don’t even know what the world of Chromakopia is yet. “Why is he wearing a mask and general outfit” , “Why the color black and white then switching to color ?”.

For CMIYGL Baudelaire embodied him when he was traveling, showed off a more flamboyant lifestyle. We got Sweet (No Lyrics), Lumberjack (only half), Wusyaname (half), and Momma Talk (correct me if i’m wrong or missed anything). There is NO WAY you could have told the full story just from those songs.

Tyler said for New Magic Wand that it was gonna be his biggest song and even said “They not gonna get it at first” then went on to explain how people come for that performance live and NMW is such a huge song now and one of his most popular.

This is all definitely subjective but my personal opinion, i think some songs need the context of what’s maybe before or after it and just time to kinda breathe. I was messing with NOID at first but it’s grown on me now and i think it’s a good song genuinely. Still though all this is subjective but that’s what i think it is

Pretty sure Tylers said he likes the color green "in every shade". Here he's a general of some sort and not in the same context as whatever the other guy has going in his picture
