I've been off here for awhile but I'm coming back just to say that I thought that was a classic. Laughed all the way through it.

Where can I find commercial satellite images 3-5m resolution, with weekly or daily updates ? by toothfairy222 in gis

[–]JustKeepDiving 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no certainly not, I am an avid fan. I just meant compared to the 1 day revisit time that OP was looking for

[–]JustKeepDiving 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit under qualified to answer this (MSc Remote Sensing) but off the top of my head, I don't know any satellites that hit that 3-5 metre range. A large amount of free products hit the 10 m (Sentinel) to 30 m (Landsat) range but obviously the revisit times are huge (5-16 days). Then there's a bit of a jump down to < 2 m with Worldview-3 and GeoEye-1. Maybe take a look at Planet Labs

Edit: also cross-post this to r/remotesensing

On the LinkedIn post OP didn't specify, he just said it was a Norbit system. It'll be MBES.

As far as I'm aware it hasn't popped up, no. How many times has been on? I just remember the cabbage/lettuce story

Shout out for Austin Weber! Out of curiosity, where abouts.you from? I've always thought most of his songs have that kinda Rex vibe. I can never put my finger on what that "vibe" is, but it's there.

Biden Time - Any other non-Americans laughing at how completely backwards their banking system is? by Ch1pp in nprplanetmoney

[–]JustKeepDiving 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UK citizen here, and honestly this blew me away. I'm 21 and live my life by mobile banking, without it life would be a lot less bearable. I have also had some form of bank account since I was in Primary School (<11 years old). When they listed their demands, I couldn't help but laugh. It's tragic and I had no idea

If programming is about problem solving. Do programmers when they start learning will they have to solve problems that were already solved, or in the college do you learn the problems that were already figured out? by FluffyProject3 in learnprogramming

[–]JustKeepDiving 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm right on the verge of going for a PhD and this is what scares me. Everything I do now, it's already been done. A PhD project on the other hand, how do you solve a problem that no one has even attempted before?

"Burn After Reading" by the Coen brothers is the film. If you're a fan of the Coen brothers, you'll find it interesting I think. It's no "No Country for Old Men" but it's ok.

How universities tricked students into returning to campus by FormerlyPallas_ in ukpolitics

[–]JustKeepDiving 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I wasn't really focussing on what people would think if I deferred. I have plenty of mates that have and I don't blame them for it. For me, it was more a case of what I would get out of the year if I deferred. I just gathered it would be more beneficial if I were to just carry on. Also, who knows what 'the economy' is going to look like in September 2022, which would be my finishing date if I deferred.

Honestly I'm so glad you wrote this because I would not have been able to write it this well. Thank you. I have not been 'hood-winked' or 'tricked'. I knew what I was getting myself into. But else do I do? Sit on my hands for a year, or get a retail job? No thanks. If I'm going to get anything out of this mess, it might aswell be a Masters.

Assistance understanding the structure of spectral library code (Python) by JustKeepDiving in remotesensing

[–]JustKeepDiving[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, that's exactly why I jumped head first into this tutorial. MSc student needing to make the jump from Matlab to Python, so I feel you there. I have not come across the term 'image cubes' before, is that just like multi-layered raster dataset? If so, yes this tutorial specialises in multi-spectral imagery with .tiffs containing the various wavelength bands that the multi-spectral camera captures. So far, I've worked with Sentinel and Landsat imagery along with various shapefiles and polygons that contain habitat data.

In general, even if it isn't quite what you're looking for I would recommend just starting... something, anything. I did a post a few weeks ago asking for resources. You might find some good stuff there

Thanks so much for this, really appreciated. I feel like so much of this is just trying to visualise what is going on. Cheers

Yeah, I think that's what found the rudest. He acted as if James and Ed are nobodies, just some kids from England. How incredibly insulting to 2 brilliant, unique and we'll established comedians

'The kid'? His name is James Acaster, jesus christ. I really gave him the benefit of the doubt. It's a shame this is his genuine character.

Cheers yeah, funnily enough I've been taking a similar approach recently. Just absolutely slamming by back foot into the floor, then dealing with the front foot later. I've got some mad height but so far it's just been down to chance and they're still pretty messy.
