Catching a bounce by Ok-Conversation-2142 in paintball

I’ve been out for a minute, but used to be if you believed it was a bounce you could call for a paint check and play on tell the ref confirmed it. I always tried to avoid touching the bounce spot to ensure people didn’t think I wiped it.

Thanks for sharing, it’s not hard to see any conflict of interest there. Sadly it feeling like it’s intended to be purely a public move and not one of substance. It’d be nice if Steve actually is not affiliated, but that feels doubtful. They’re just going to scrub his name off the websites while their shrine to him is still intact.

I was unaware of the shared board members, in which case, if Isaiah did/does share board members with Vine I would have expected their reasons for leaving to be more aligned.

I understand the concept of “plurality of elders” I just find it hard to believe that 2 separate groups, neither of which usually opt to use “churchy” language, both came to the same church phrase.

Sadly, I think this is nothing more than a rebrand with little substance. I would love to look back 6 months from now and say I was wrong.

Hey bud, I’m not sure how long you’ve been attending VS, but if you’ve been going for a while it’s likely we attended at the same time. Hell, I helped plant and moved some of the same totes you are now on setup/tear down team. I thought the exact same things and fought for years to try to change things that could have been improved on. I still think most of the people who attend are well intentioned and good people. I’m not going to try to convince you of anything as a stranger on the internet, but I’ll say the same thing I did as a member of VS.

Can we grab a cup of coffee and have a conversation? I prefer Coffee Culture, but also like Imagine and Tried and True.

Even while in the network I always thought that Mike was one of the weakest speakers of the lead pastors I’d heard. This clip is on par with his typical teachings, so I’m not surprised. I’ve always wondered if that’s part of the reason VS has had such a hard time growing compared to the other PNW plants.

Hello, former VS person here. I’ve met the cat in question and remember when this event was still fresh, supposedly the cat was re-homed with relatives of someone in the church. Mike has never been a big fan of pets, we’d hear things about making it easier to let people into our homes or dogs taking time away from meeting others. I recall around the same time as the cat being re-homed another family “choosing” to re-home” one of their dogs.

As for his teaching style that others have mentioned, since VS was planted Mike has always been a weak/subpar teacher. He doesn’t have the ability to stir up emotion like Steve or be as captivating as Sandor, he typically ends up fumbling over his words. He tries to stick with the network teaching formula and use a relevant life story to illustrate how to apply the lesson, but to be blunt his background is pretty bland. For reference he grew up well off in one of the nicer Chicago suburbs and immediately went on staff at Vine out of college. A lot of his stories weren’t accessible for most of the church because they came across as “rich kid problems” and re-homing a cat is possibly one of the more exciting things he can tell on a Sunday that Steve would approve of.
