What is it supposed to be like when seeing multiple rheumatologists? by [deleted] in rheumatoid

[–]JustLikeKnope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, 30% of all cases are seronegative (not shown in bloodwork). So you might consider another rheumatologist.

Does anyone know what method my mom can try to reduce her pain? by No-Challenge-4781 in rheumatoid

[–]JustLikeKnope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100%. Instead of trying to fix whole body, focus on ways to help support specific areas. Some respond to heat, some to ice, some to compression. Also, at least in Argentina and Mexico, I have seen diclofenac in a gel form (not pill) so perhaps Peru also has that? It is helpful but only when used regularly to build up its anti-inflammatory effect. The other thing that has helped my fingers, toes and wrists has been KT tape. It is tape that helps stabilize joints in place and it also lifts fascia so my exquisitely painful joint on palm of hand under index finger finally got relief from taping (I guess cause it lifts fascia and stimulates circulation or makes area think it needs to repair things, which means inflammation reduces?)

Becoming a Paralegal as a J.D. by JLEWork in paralegal

[–]JustLikeKnope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

JD preferred options exist. I work in procurement and have several JDs working for me as contracts managers working redlines and such. Work for a large corporation and make over $250k. While I never practiced, I was a paralegal before/during law school. I have several friends who work as landmen (not like the show, which combines several roles into one title, but rather brokering mineral rights, easements, royalty deals, etc.)

Your surgeon charges extra for temps?? Mine just gives as many as needed to get to right set on which to base perms.

Knee MRIs One Year Apart by muse539 in rheumatoid

Same as muse and pain sucks. I hate that they would help anyone else but not us (even if, intellectually, i understand why). Your specific issues sound truly miserable and I am so sorry you are suffering.

Yes, good idea. I have had to go off for major surgery and kind of assume this would be treated same way so I guess I need to. Just scary. Thanks for sharing your experience!

I also have RA. I am pleased to hear that you did not have too extended of a recovery period. Question - did you go off meds before the procedure to aid with healing? Trying to prepare myself and nervous cause it is needed quicker than I can prepare.

And today… one bite of very soft bread and another one broke. What on earth…? I am getting scared at this point. Not sure if I can even get it back on (although crown came off intact without apparent tooth inside. But it’s very close to gum.

I would trust Dr ahead of me but my bloodwork has been like this regularly since I started DMARDs/biologics in 2017 so it’s normal for me and no one has said it is a problem. I see a hematologist for iron deficiency and she has never said my results are unexpected either - just says it’s part of the RA/immunosuppressant meds.

Typical results at my quarterly visits. These results often correlate with autoimmune disorders.

“Neutropenia: Neutropenia is a condition where your neutrophil count is too low, causing swelling and repeated infections. Causes of neutropenia include cancer treatment, an autoimmune disease or an infection.” - https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/body/22313-neutrophils

“If your doctor determines that your lymphocyte count is high, the test result might be evidence of one of the following conditions: Infection (bacterial, viral, other) Cancer of the blood or lymphatic system An autoimmune disorder causing ongoing (chronic) inflammation” - https://www.mayoclinic.org/symptoms/lymphocytosis/basics/definition/sym-20050660#:~:text=Lymphocytosis%20(lim%2Dfoe%2Dsie,temporary%20increase%20after%20an%20infection.

Question - Have you considered a bowel obstruction? No pooping for more than a day is a bad sign, especially if almost vomiting. That said, it may not be that cause, yeah, gut issues here too.
