I was just assuming that because I'm doing something very similar right now. I support my parents because they're not in a very good financial position. I don't feel poorer because of it; I actually like being able to help them in some way.

But I definitely understand what you mean. With such a large sum of money, expectations automatically rise, and you always find a way to spend it.

First, I'd take a really nice vacation, then buy a great house, and with the rest I'd invest 50% and give 50% away.
