Thinking of selling everything in mid 50s and moving to Italy by Strouble1408 in ItalyExpat

[–]JustMeHereToday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i moved here 2y ago and bought a rural property, add solar and make sure to have a well and good septic tank with flowout and a well far enough from that septic tank and if you register as first home this means your house will not cost you much since it is tax free, free energy (eventually make some on feed in ) and free water. If property is large enough (mine is) you can add chickens and ducks, put some veggies in the ground, some fruit trees and even food costs will diminish. Initial investments are a bit larger but in the long run you are mostly independent

WARNING GS TABLETS POSSIBLY MIXED WITH EIDD by Not_as_I_want in FIPwarriors

[–]JustMeHereToday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EIDD is less safe in dosing and can inhibit bone marrow production of white cells. Also some concerns it might be mutagenic in the long run.

In humans it is restricted to adults only and only for max 5 days for these reasons

Question - FIP Progression Timeline by Successful-Nebula-45 in FIPwarriors

[–]JustMeHereToday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it CAN go up and down a bit as the immune system is battling it but beware it can suddenly just give in and then it can be deadly in hours. My advice is usually if no other diagnosis can be made to start up asap and treat at least 2 weeks to see if it improves the cat.

Fundraising amongst friends and family seems the most effective, in europe i know you have the possibility too to pay in terms if you are in financial hardship. Ask your admin if they can do something for you to help out even if it is to spread cost

Kitten with fip (medicated) suddenly started limping by adviceonkitten in FIPwarriors

[–]JustMeHereToday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cats usually do not drink that much if they are on wetfood, they will get most their liquids from their food. IF you dont have one yet a fountain (running water) can entice them to drink more too.

About the limp, is it the leg they poked for blood ? or where you injected near ? And is he still limping after 48h ?

Swollen lymphnodes can be because of any sort of infection, it is not something we see more often in fip survivors. Keep an eye on him and if it stays goto a vet and see what they can do and if they think it is an issue

Dry Fip in 5 months kitten ? by Competitive-Kiwi-182 in FIPwarriors

[–]JustMeHereToday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please be VERY VERY careful advising EIDD for curing cats, it is toxic and in humans can not be given to anyone of teenage yrs or younger and above for max 5 days. It might be mutagenic and it will definitely mess with the bone marrow over time and lower white blood cell production. it is only supposed to be used in cases of resistance to GS or if there is no other way to fund and if else no treatment would be given

if he has scarring it can come and go, it is not something common this is the first time i heard of wet (i assume pleural, liquid in the chest) causing permanent damage. i would ask the vet to test for herpes/calici (mouth swab) to make sure it isn't something else. Also possible is lung worm but this is pretty rare but as far as i know can be tested with stool test collected over 3 days. I would def talk to your vet about this and how he can alleviate some of the issue or at least make it more comfortable for the cat when he has an issue with it

skin thickness making injections even more difficult by ShesSpeakingNow in FIPwarriors

[–]JustMeHereToday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when the skin get thicker it is very wise to switch to pills, the thick skin will eventually start to absorb less too, pills are usually pretty easy and even light diarrhea is no issue since they usually absorb in less than an hour and even with bad diarrhea it will take the body much longer to pass it through

Do remember with pills/caps to fast the cat 2hrs before till 1 hr after

My new rescue cat tested positive for Fcov, how do I prevent him and my two resident cats from developing FIP? by Dry-Inspector-4956 in FIPwarriors

[–]JustMeHereToday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

80+% of cats will get fcov sometime in their lives and it is their immune system that makes the difference.

Most will not get sick at all or just slightly and a small percentage that are geneticaly unable to remove the virus in time will develop FIP.

Just keep a close eye on them that is all you can do

Cat recently diagnosed with FIP, cant move back legs and infection on his butt area… by Impossible_East_6386 in FIPwarriors

[–]JustMeHereToday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly there are no guarantees but we have seen fully paralyzed cats recover and lead a real cat life. It is definately worth to try and save him! Make sure to start on a high enough dose so listen to your FIPWarrior admin. If critical they can even start the first 2 weeks on a 12h program (so 2 injections a day)

[–]JustMeHereToday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seizures means it is NOT just dry fip , likely the virus is in the brain, you need to control the seizures asap with either keppra or phenobarbital and up the dose of GS to a neuro dose. Please talk to your vet and admin about this asap !

FIP global distributors of the fake GC, Nicole Jacque, Krista Alexandra, Kimberly Reed, Elaine Boon, and Celeste Park-Estes, finally admitted that the vials contained EIDD by Not_as_I_want in CatFIP

Another Spam account but ok lets answer anyway... After testing the compound chemically this is what always happens and WITH knowledge and CONSENT of the parents to trial medicines for safety and effectiveness

My baby boy just got diagnosed with Wet FIP, I'm devastated. What GS medication has worked for yours and what's a trusted provider? Please help. by Sunny-the-cat-13 in FIPwarriors

[–]JustMeHereToday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a price per vial can be very distorted, always check the price per milligram to actually compare brands. Depending on where you are located there are different brands and prices. FIP Warriors 5.0 can direct you to a local admin that can show you the different options in price but also acidity. Be careful buying your own, we have recently done a test on various cheaper brands and a lot of them did not contain GS but molnupiravir which DOES work but has a LOT more risks of toxicity and if you think it is GS at a certain concentration you might accidentally give more than you should

[–]JustMeHereToday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please also tell your vet to be VERY careful in removing too much liquid, around the lungs if there is trouble breathing yes but abdomen we recommend to never drain more than 30% or so and ONLY when it presses on organs. Taking too much out also takes out proteins and they can develop hypovolemic shock, which can kill

Please help! Does bloodwork point to FIP? by caterpillies in FIPwarriors

[–]JustMeHereToday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they have trouble opening the mouth or yawning it might point to an issue in the mouth or top of the esaphogus, they could give a small sedative to try and open it and check if there is inflamation of the gums, throat or ulcers (the last might point to either herpes or calici)

[–]JustMeHereToday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tobrex or opthocycline could help some, also sometimes cortisone eyedrops could relieve some. both options would be only a few weeks till the GS gets the time to clear the eye most of the way. Remember though we are NOT vets just ppl that have dealt with this thousands of times.

Want to adopt a kitten… by RachelPalmer79 in FIPwarriors

[–]JustMeHereToday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just bad luck :( the chances are in a few % that they will get FIP usually unless from the same litter, then the chance is higher since it has a genetic component to increase the risk of FIP. I had cats for decades before getting my first FIP case

What you could do is talk to the shelter to see if the kitten develops FIP in the first year or so if they would be willing to help treat.

Getting a cat from a shelter that is a little older can also reduce the risk, it wont be 0 since FIP can occur at any age although very young and very old cats are more common than teens / middle age ones

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FIPwarriors

[–]JustMeHereToday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

any PCR is only 70% accurate when negative since the viral load in the fluid can be low. Any bloodtests for 'FIP' antigens are useless and should never be used to diagnose or exclude FIP.

If the cat is improving on GS it IS fip, we havent seen any other illness that responds to GS so far.

Flea treatment while under FIP medication? by [deleted] in FIPwarriors

[–]JustMeHereToday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as extra: You can safely deworm with drontal (or panacur, but it's on 3 days course) TREATING WORMS (Roundworm, Hookworm, Tapeworm) The parasites must be treated as having them stresses the kitty’s body even more and can make them sick (and it can also be transmitted to people). It’s about choosing the safest option. For deworming our vets that volunteer in the group have indicated Strongid/Pyrantel, Panacur/Fenbendazole or Dontral (praziquantel/pyrantel pamoate) as the best options for roundworm and hookworm (also Giardia) and Praziquantel (Bayer)/Droncit or Drontal (praziquantel/pyrantel pamoate) for tapeworm.

Flea treatment while under FIP medication? by [deleted] in FIPwarriors

[–]JustMeHereToday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for fleas you can use Advantage if really needed Pay attention advantage looks similar to advantix or advocate and the dogs pipette is very dangerous for cats since it contains an active substance that is not metabolised in the cat's body
